Job Summary

Raytheon is seeking a Senior Principal Software Developer to join our Specialty Engineering Workforce Planning organization. This Software Developer will be responsible for developing and managing tools and metrics to ensure future staffing requirements align to strategic and tactical business needs.

Candidate should have a good foundation in software architecture, design, and development, database experience, and extensive experience working in LINUX or UNIX environments. The candidate should have a demonstrable understanding of software principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering (including software development lifecycle and software development process), design patterns, design, and programming.

This position is currently designated as fully remote. However, the successful candidate will be required to work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories).

Responsibilities to Anticipate

  • Interpret requirements into software architecture and design
  • Design, develop and code software sufficient to meet the requirements of one or more components or systems
  • Perform integration, test, and documentation duties to ensure proper operation of hardware and software platforms
  • Oversee design and development of data processing systems and application integration to/from various sources; integrate and ensure they meet performance standards for stability and data accuracy
  • Software configuration management
  • Lead and mentor junior software developers
  • Participate in Agile activities such as increment and sprint planning
  • Data analysis to identify anomalies and patterns

Basic Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of ten (10) years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum seven (7) years is acceptable.
  • Experience developing complex software solutions in major programming (e.g., Python), and scripting languages in LINUX or UNIX environments
  • Experience developing, testing, and delivering applications
  • Experience working in agile development teams, specifically using DevOps principles
  • Experience designing software solutions for components and services with supporting design details that are reference artifacts
  • Experience with data management and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load)
  • Experience analyzing and validating data with Excel or other tools
  • Experience with troubleshooting applications and infrastructure
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Python programming languages
  • Experience with SQL or similar databases
  • Experience with agile and software configuration management tool sets (GIT, etc.)
  • Development, inspection, and manipulation of XML
  • Experience with API-based web services
  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning
  • Experience with Power Platform
  • Experience in the design and implementation of automate tests
  • Experience with building associated automated unit and smoke tests for developed code.
  • COTS Integration experience
  • Experience using a Software Development IDE (e.g., Eclipse)
  • Shell Scripting for Linux based systems

Additional Information

  • Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
