The Tactical Radars department within Raytheon Hardware Engineering supports the development, production, and deployment of multiple defense products including radars, missiles, command and control systems, and naval electronics.  The products support US Government and international customers.

This Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer will support the Army Navy/Transportable Radar Surveillance (AN/TPY-2) Electronic Equipment Unit (EEU) Sub-Integrated Product Team based in Woburn, MA and may require domestic and international travel to suppliers.  This position will be an onsite role.

What You Will Do

• Represent Raytheon Engineering as the responsible engineer and Sub-Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) for the Electronic Equipment Unit (EEU) development efforts on the TPY program.
• Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.  Work with minimal direction or supervision, while exercising considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment
• Provide regular reporting on schedule and cost in support of Latest Revised Estimates, Estimate At Completion reviews, and other reporting that is required of the program.

• Direct program design decisions for mechanical, electrical, systems, safety, and other engineering functions for EEU TPY. Provide clear communication of technical status, risks, and progress to leadership and stakeholders.
• Identify program risks and opportunities, develop mitigation plans, and track closure.
• Interact with high level representatives on significant technical matters requiring coordination between organizations and suppliers or subcontractors as appropriate
• Support related proposals and new capture pursuits with cost and schedule data as well as lessons learned and assumptions.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience. Demonstrated knowledge of requirements, component specifications, codes, standards, test specifications applicable to development and integration of products for military applications.
• Effective communication, technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Experience leading an engineering team in the development, production, and integration phases of a program and working across engineering disciplines and functional organizations.
• Experience managing cost and schedule utilizing an Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
• Ability to lead teams to solve complex challenges, summarize concisely and present to leadership

• Self-motivated with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Adaptability and willingness to work varied and multiple assignments concurrently
• Proven ability to lead technical solutions to complex user requirements
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Interim Secret Security Clearance is needed on Day 1

Qualifications We Prefer

• Proficiency with CREO and large assembly management, PTC Windchill Product Data Management (PDM), Technical Data Package releases and CN/CR and IR’s
• Willingness for travel (domestic and international)
• Experience in guiding integration, verification, and validation planning for complex processing hardware and software components and ensuring readiness for fielding.

• Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
