The opportunity: 

Provide strategic leadership, governance and execution oversight for testing across a significant Data & Analytics program for a key insurance client. 

Help ensure reliable and trusted data products across data platforms, pipelines, business intelligence and analytics solutions, regulatory reporting and cloud-based environments. 

Based in Melbourne or Sydney, this is a hybrid role. You will work with program leadership, data engineers, data governance, product owners and business and technical stakeholders to ensure data assets meet standards for accuracy, completeness, integrity and performance before release. 

Your Key Responsabilities 

• Define and maintain the Quality and Test Strategy across ETL, data warehousing, business intelligence, analytics and cloud data services. 

• Lead planning, design, execution and reporting for functional, integration, regression, automation, performance and non-functional testing. 

• Oversee end-to-end validation of data pipelines, transformations, models and APIs. 

• Establish data-quality controls covering profiling, reconciliation, anomaly detection and cleansing. 

• Partner with data governance teams to embed quality assurance across metadata, lineage and data-management practices. 

• Coordinate test readiness across environments, test data, tooling and licences. 

• Design test cases and automation scripts and identify opportunities to expand automation. 

• Manage test execution, defect reporting and triage and collaborate with delivery teams to support resolution. 

• Support regulatory reporting readiness through quality gates, traceability and test evidence. 

• Prepare test reports, metrics, quality risks and status updates and support test sign-off and closure. 

• Lead distributed testing teams and drive continuous improvement and capability uplift. 

Skills and attributes for success 

• Demonstrated experience in the insurance industry. 

• Strong internal and external stakeholder management capability. 

• Demonstrated expertise testing data warehousing, ETL, business intelligence, analytical platforms and large-scale data pipelines. 

• Strong capability developing test strategies covering ETL, front-end and back-end reporting, integration testing and UAT. 

• Strong SQL and/or Python capability for data validation, profiling and automation. 

• Experience with at least one cloud platform: GCP, AWS or Azure. 

• Extensive capability in at least one reporting technology, such as Cognos, Power BI or Tableau, with workable knowledge of the others. 

• Strong understanding of data governance, metadata, lineage and regulatory reporting requirements. 

• Hands-on experience with test-management tools such as Jira, Xray or Zephyr. 

• Ability to lead distributed teams and articulate quality risks to technical and business audiences. 

Ideally, you'll also have the skills and attributes below but don't worry if you don't tick all the boxes. We're interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn. 

• Experience with Tosca DI. 

• Exposure to regulatory data programs and reporting transformations. 

• Knowledge of advanced analytics, machine learning model testing and data science quality frameworks. 

• Familiarity with master data management testing and enterprise data-platform architecture. 

• Exposure to ETL technologies such as Informatica, SSIS, SAP Data Services, AWS Glue or Azure Data Factory.
