Seeking an individual with an electronics engineering background that has the capability to work collaboratively with a customer team to synthesize optimal architectures for technical performance & life cycle cost value. The candidate will define and maintain system requirements for the systems developed.

Hybrid:

  • Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, IL to work a hybrid schedule reporting on-site as needed

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute requirements design and development, system testing and documentation, and product support of systems developed
  • Work across a broad range of functional disciplines including electrical, mechanical and data communication interfaces
  • Support programs from the proposal stage to the support stage when the product is installed on revenue system.  This includes:
    • The preparation of proposals, the definition of all system-level requirements, the flow down of all requirements to the appropriate sub-system component designers, simulation of system level operation, coordination of system development and qualification testing, and support of all testing at the customer facility including certification testing
  • Acts as a focal point for all technical interaction with the customer and/or alliance partners
  • Ability to lead a cross-functional support team
  • Communicate to internal and external review boards

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline
  • Experience with land vehicle, aircraft, space sub-system design
  • Electrical sub-systems development (e.g., Chapter 24, aircraft utilities, power distribution units, actuation systems)
  • Ability to apply basic electrical and/or mechanical principles to design, analyze and conduct engineering investigations on electronic products
  • Broad life-cycle experience: requirements analysis through system integration including integration lab verification
  • Experience following a structured development process where well-documented requirements, designs, and test procedures
  • Simulation and scripting experience (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Saber, Python)
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Familiarity with DOORs software
  • Familiarity with RTCA, FAA, ARINC, MIL, and ISO specifications
  • Familiarity with Aircraft Certification requirements related to System Safety and Reliability (ARP4754, ARP4761, FAR / JAR), and Aircraft Electrical System Architecture
  • Experience with BLDC motors, electrical sensors and sensor interfaces
  • Aircraft subsystem critical control function familiarity (engines, hydraulics, fuel, environmental)
  • Hardware design
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) development using automated processes
  • Built In Test Equipment design/EMI design/Aircraft Communications design
