This position is for an Industrial Engineer who will join the Manufacturing support team at the Collins Aerospace Cedar Rapids facility. Primary responsibility will be to support the lean manufacture of avionics electronics equipment. Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide industrial engineering support to production build and testing of avionics electronics equipment.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and projects using the CORE methodology

• Identify drivers of cost and propose alternative solutions for cost reductions.

• Perform cost analysis and trade-offs.

• Estimate costs and participate in preparation of proposals and presentations.

• Perform moderate to advanced engineering economics principles and techniques and analyze and understand manufacturing cost impacts.

• Ability to diagnose problems and recommend alternative solutions.

• Knowledge of principles and techniques commonly used in electronics manufacturing.

 

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

• The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate with a wide variety of technical and management personnel and coordinate several projects while balancing priorities and schedules.

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in manufacturing engineering, or factory transition

• Understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes

• Understanding of manufacturing cost trade-off techniques

• Understanding of estimating techniques

• Understanding of lean manufacturing (continuous improvement) techniques
