Brief Department/ Job Description

RTX People and Payroll Services organization is looking for an experienced US Tax Operations and Compliance professional with operational oversight to drive process quality, accuracy, and efficiencies.

The ideal candidate would have knowledge and experience in US tax compliance, be familiar with US employment tax regulations, along with proven leadership skills, analytical skills, and vendor relationship experience.

This role will support the People and Payroll Services team in aligning with the overall company initiatives related to its recently deployed CORE (Customer Oriented Results & Excellence) operating system with primary focus on standardizing operations within our processes, systems, and tools to drive process efficiencies, compliance, and quality to improve operating efficiency and reduce costs.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management and staff supporting US Payroll Tax Compliance and provide guidance on tax related questions and issues.
  • Research and solution complex US Payroll Tax issues including root cause analysis.  
  • Monitor legislative changes from the federal, state and local jurisdictions for compliance; coordinate as required with ADP and engage/train tax team.
  • Provide operational oversight to Conduent Tax team. 
  • Identify potential standardizations and process gaps to drive enhancements and automation to increase quality, accuracy, and compliance for US Payroll Tax Operations.
  • Drive consistency in processing and results through documentation and training
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to adhere to and maintain payroll tax compliance.
  • Assist People and Payroll Services and collaborate with other key stakeholders with cross functional projects and key initiatives.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex pay tax inquiries.
  • Provide timely and accurate data reporting, as required.
  • Serve as primary support for internal and external audits inclusive of proper documentation, as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong working experience with US payroll tax compliance and payroll tax operations
  • Familiarity with US employment tax regulations
  • Familiarity with fringe benefits as it relates to taxation.
  • High degree of initiative; ability to drive change to promote functional productivity and efficiency.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving skills for complex inquiries and issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Excel, Service Now and other efficiency tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Payroll Professional
  • Master’s Degree
  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise Payroll systems including but not limited to: Peoplesoft, ADP

Experience and Education

  • This role typically requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field and 10 years of relevant tax and leadership experience OR an advanced degree and 7 years of relevant experience

Work Authorization Status:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools/sites that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 236,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
