Job Summary:

Our Aegis program is a team of diverse professionals who are developing, fielding, and maintaining the most advanced shipboard radars. In this role you will provide technical maintenance, installation, integration, testing, operating, and modification of RADAR systems such as SPY-1A through SPY-1D(V) and MK 99 Fire Control System (FCS) in support of the U.S. Navy Aegis Fleet.

Position is remote.

Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Successful candidate must be a self-starter with good communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment performing ordnance alterations (ORDALT) or change incorporation notices (CIN) to the SPY-1 RADAR and MK99 FCS transmitter to include performing mechanical and electrical modifications, analyze equipment failures to determine root cause to then recommend and implement corrective action.
  • Travel extensively to operate, maintain, align, troubleshoot, and repair SPY-1D, SPY-1D(V) Transmitter Equipment and Fire Control Systems (FCS) on board US Navy Aegis Class destroyers (DDG-51 through DDG-90, DDG-91 through DDG-112, DDG-113 and follow-on systems) utilizing test equipment and operational readiness test systems.
  • Prepare and submit reports of equipment discrepancies and possible solutions while actively keeping performance and maintenance records on equipment and communicate the job tasks between multiple group organizations.
  • Accept temporary assignments that require at sea support on board US Navy ships in support of Aegis Systems and travel to Naval ships to support installations and technical assists CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Analyze equipment failures to determine root cause, escalate investigations when necessary and request additional support from Engineering then recommend and implement corrective action.
  • Successful Field Engineers must be able to support the possibility of 100% travel.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Formal training in Basic Electronics Electricity (RF, Digital, and Analog), thorough state electronics and Microwave philosophy.
  • HIGHLY desire experience working with the Aegis Weapon System on board US Navy Aegis Class destroyers (DDG-91 through DDG-112).
  • Experience supporting installations and projects.
  • Experience with electronics, resources, and test equipment.
  • Experience with radar coolant systems and repair.
  • Experience with working around high voltage.
  • Experience maintaining Aegis documentation, providing feedback reports to Quality Assurance, and providing solutions to a variety of complex problems.
  • Comprehension of understanding and application of Radar concepts and industry practices.
  • Comprehension of ORTS (Operational Readiness Test System).
  • Comprehension of electrical mechanical schematics, multi-pin connectors and repair.
  • Comprehension of basic RF Cable construction and repair.
  • Active and transferable SECRET US government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aegis “C” School on Aegis Mk99 FCS Transmitter.
  • Experience with Aegis (SPY-1D(V) and the MK 99 Fire Control System (FCS).
  • Experience with electronics, RF processes and calculations, digital and analog processes, and the ability to troubleshoot these areas.
  • Aegis “C” School on Aegis SPY-1D (V) is HIGHLY desirable.
  • Experience working on SPY Transmitter variants and FCS Transmitters.
  • Experience with wire wrap and soldering skills, general hand instrument use and electrical instrument uses.
  • Experience working overseas on international assignments.
  • Experience in word processing and spreadsheet creation.

Additional Information:

  • Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed. 

The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
