We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to work onsite in St. Petersburg, FL.

The Systems Engineer within the Systems Excellence Department contributes through all phases of the product development lifecycle (i.e. systems and software requirements, system architecture and design, software integration and test, simulation and test, integration and test, verification and sell-off), within an interdisciplinary process that ensures the customer and warfighters needs are satisfied through every stage. This commitment to excellence can sometimes include opportunities for travel, and flexible hours/shifts to ensure programmatic milestones are met.

The selected applicant will join a team of talented engineers with the responsibility of defining the requirements, design, and architecture of subsystems that comprise the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) product line, located in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of Advanced Networking Solutions (ANS). The U.S. Navy’s CEC, a real-time ‘sensor-netting’ system that brings together radar data into a single integrated air picture from geographically dispersed ships, aircraft, and ground-based units. This integrated picture improves a battlegroup’s effectiveness by enabling longer range, cooperative, or layered engagements. Today’s CEC benefits from advancements in commercial and specialized technologies, as well as from the experience and expertise of the Collins Aerospace team, continually innovating to advance capability and performance.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Leadership role with a focus Systems development: Systems Architect, Product Owner, Scrum Master.

  • Lead and support requirements and algorithm development, system level designs, and system level models using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE.)

  • Author testable requirements and associated verification approaches aligned with appropriate verification methods.

  • Perform integration and test activities in-house or at site locations.

  • Utilize DOORS to manage the complete life cycle of requirements, including Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and Change Notices (CNs).

  • Attend internal and external Configuration Control Boards (CCBs).

  • Collaborate with Program and Customer Leadership.

  • Innovative thought and implementation of automated test execution and data analysis using any combination of scripting tools, Python, Matlab, and COTS products.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in the development, design, and architecture of complex military systems.

  • Experience planning, leading, and executing the development of systems and software requirements.

  • Experience with software/systems modeling and simulations.

  • Experience with MBSE Tools (Rhapsody, Cameo, MagicDraw).

  • Experience in Data Analysis, interpretation of the results, and identification of corrective actions.

  • Experience testing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and/or Technical Performance Measures (TPMs).

  • Experience with requirements management databases, for example DOORS.

  • Experience in scripting and automation techniques or methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Top Secret clearance is preferred.

  • Experience in the operation, test, and troubleshooting of Naval systems.

  • Experience using DOORS for requirements management and linking requirements to test procedures.

  • Development of integration, verification, and validation planning documentation of integration and test plans, procedures, reports, status reports, and other related documentation.

  • Experience with agile development, including project estimating, reporting, and backlog management.

  • Experience with automated test scripting and automated data analysis.

  • Experience with DevSecOps/TDD/BDD; Security+.

  • Experience with MATLAB.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures.

The position is based in St. Petersburg, FL, nicknamed “The Sunshine City” for its average of 248 days of sunshine a year. Our location is easily commutable from several nearby areas, just 5 miles from Interstate 275; options for where to call “home” are plentiful within the Tampa Bay area.
