Job Summary:

We are looking for uniquely talented engineers to champion our key transformation shifts and identify new ways to advance Structural engineering. Pratt & Whitney's Hot Section Engineering (HSE) team is seeking an experienced, creative, and highly motivated Structures engineer to analyze and design static hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Structures engineer will utilize state of the art analytical methods to validate the structural integrity of Hot Section static hardware (cases, frames and / or vanes). 

  • The engineer will be part of an integrated product team with responsibilities for executing FEMs, performing lifing analyses, and writing technical reports. 

  • Communicating technical progress and status to various program groups, senior management, as well as internal / external customers. 

  • The candidate will also be a member of the broader HSE team and support strategic development and growth of Structures discipline health.

  • Demonstrate leadership in engineering continuous improvement

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • 8+ years of engineering or aerospace experience, or 5+ years with an advance degree

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and trending skills.

  • Advanced proficiency with ANSYS APDL and / or Workbench.

  • Experience working to static structures standards.

  • Advanced knowledge of LCF, TMF, HCF & FM failure modes.

  • Familiarity with P&W Structures tools and procedures.

  • Diverse Structures experience including analytical methods (FEA), hand calculations, and spreadsheet methods.

  • Experience analyzing strength, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
