The Collins Aerospace Cargo System Technology Development Department in Jamestown, ND is looking for a talented software engineer to join our group creating cutting-edge technology.  This exciting opportunity requires an individual who has skills and interests in software development, test, implementation, integration activities as well as innovation and research.  

This individual will work in the technology department traversing innovative ideas through appropriate technology readiness levels transforming a raw concept into a demonstrated product in a relevant environment.

As a member of our team, you will be involved in designing and developing platform software (application programs, device drivers, board support packages, development tools) to support common computing platforms that are integrated into embedded systems applications.

This is a hybrid role (3 days per week onsite) in Jamestown, ND. This role is eligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Innovate and design software solutions for new and novel technology endeavors
  • Actively learn new technologies and techniques and apply them to new domains and problem sets
  • Engage in strategic Intellectual Property Protection through Invention Disclosure and Patent submittal
  • Develop Requirements throughout the Technology Readiness Level progression
  • Work closely with Systems Engineering to model and develop high level software architectures
  • Solve software problems by producing quality code in respective programming languages.
  • Design software verification procedures to meet the required Design Assurance Level (DAL)
  • Assist with automated test software development for design verification
  • Utilize software debugging tools to troubleshoot software
  • Develop technical documentation to facilitate new product development beyond TRL6
  • Ensure hardware and software standards are met.
  • Follow standard configuration management principles to maintain appropriate levels of software revision control
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in the requirements planning, specification development, design, and end-user application
  • Ability to work autonomously with limited oversight

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the development of real time embedded systems software
  • Experience with C/C++, MATLAB, Simulink, Python
  • Working knowledge of DO-178B/C standards for development of safety critical software in an aviation environment
  • Experience developing software in an Agile environment
  • Experience with software test automation and continuous test methodologies
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Design Concepts
