Job Summary:

Raytheon seeks a Principal Mission Protection Systems' Engineer to join a high performing team at the center of an important US government function which helps the nation meet its national security plan. This position operates at the customer location (near) Springfield, VA area.

The Principal Mission Protection Systems' Engineer will be able to:

  • Serve as a technical subject-matter-expert and demonstrate strong project leadership skills collaborating with both the customer and other contractors.

  • Perform in a high tempo, dynamic small team environment, where multi-tasking is a common operation's tempo.

  • Keep customer and contractor leadership appraised of activities, deliverables, problems and opportunities.

  • Provide Mission Protection support to enterprise projects as well as to other programs, as directed by the customer.

  • Maintain situational awareness on evolving threats and new developments including participation at key conferences and forums.

This position is an onsite role – Near Springfield, VA

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Develop, coordinate, train, evaluate, and analyze Courses of Action (COAs), Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), Response Options (ROs) and Concepts of Operations (CONOPS)

  • Monitor multi-source intelligence for Indications and Warnings (I&W) of counter-space threat employment.

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and Planning functional areas to provide vehicle and system vulnerability/capability assessments based on available intelligence threat data.

  • Identify shortfalls in indications and warnings, and foundational intelligence.

  • Incorporate space protection processes into station procedures, processes, training, requirements, CONOPs, directives and/or operating instructions.

  • Use available data and visualization tools to analyze and assess threat events and options.

  • Develop mission plans for various threat scenarios.

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of eight years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

Ability to communicate (written and verbally) with customers with professionalism on complex issues.

Experience with Microsoft Office Tool Suite

An active and in-scope TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

All-Source Intelligence Analysis experience

Prior Defensive Space Control experience
