We are seeking a well-qualified Senior Network Engineer for a Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering (HWI) team on a Department of Defense (DoD) weapon system development team.  This is a prime contractor level position in a Scrum environment, providing support to geographically dispersed hardware/software development teams. 

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for leading and performing systems/network engineering tasks pertaining to program design, development, and implementation activities. Tasks include designing, documenting, building, configuring, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting LAN/WAN/Data Center environments. The qualified individual should possess knowledge and experience with network technologies, services, operations and understand associated security practices. 

This position is located on-site in Dulles, VA. Occasional (<25%) travel to customer operational locations is required for system installation and troubleshooting support.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks including designing\implementing switch, firewall, and router configurations. Individual should possess knowledge and experience with network technologies, services, operations, and associated security practices.

  • Perform network administration and engineering tasks pertaining to detail design development, creating engineering design artifacts, hands on administration, implementation, and troubleshooting.

  • Review, Create, and Edit network diagrams and documentation as needed.

  • Provide network systems analysis, network engineering, and network security.

  • Provide technical inputs and evaluation of all aspects of networking, including software and hardware and critical interface issues.

  • Provide network analysis of the reliability and availability of systems.

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Current Top Secret (TS) Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance required prior to start date.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.

  • Experience with networking, network administration / configuration of Ethernet switches, firewalls and routers (Cisco, Dell, Palo Alto, Juniper, etc.).

  • Experience with security policy implementation and development of Access Control Lists (ACLs) and Network Address Translation (NAT).

  • Experience with Network design and implementation concepts.

  • Experience with configuring routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.

  • Experience integrating with identity management, access management, and authorization solutions Such as: PKI, LDAP, OAUTH, OpenID.

  • Demonstrated experience successfully troubleshooting cloud, hybrid and on-premise network systems.

  • Ability to navigate the command line in a Linux based platform.

  • DoD 8570 compliance at the IAT Level II at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with agile development practices, including Agile Scrum methodology.

  • Experience with container technology (e.g. Docker) development and deployment.

  • Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration.

  • Experience working with cloud and containerized environments.

  • Experience with the following technologies and products:

    • Long-haul circuit technologies (TDM, MetroEthernet, MPLS, etc.)

    • Encryption and VPN (DMVPN, etc.)

    • SDN (Cisco ACI, Juniper Contrail, etc.)

    • Cloud/hybrid cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, etc.)

    • Network monitoring tools (CruzOC, SolarWinds, Splunk, etc.)

  • Current Networking Certification (CCNA, CCNP).

  • Current Security + Certification.
