The Avionics Test Engineering (ATE) organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of automated manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international. This an onsite role in Cedar Rapids, IA.

The Systems Engineering Co-op will support the ATE Systems Engineering team will help establish new Verification and Validation processes and methods, create test cases and procedures for our active projects. The Co-op will also help the team execute these tests while getting a chance to learn how our automatized test solutions are designed to test the broad portfolio of products for the Avionics business unit.

This position is relocation eligible.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  •  Performs analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. 
  • Manages configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Decomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  •  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field.
  • Use of Python or C# computer programming language.
