Program Overview
The program is structured in two progressive development phases designed to build operational depth, technical capability, and systems-level thinking.
Year 1 – Operational Immersion & Manufacturing Foundation
Graduates will undergo a comprehensive 12-month shopfloor immersion across Collins manufacturing operations to develop firsthand operational experience and manufacturing discipline.
This phase focuses on building:
Deep understanding of aerospace manufacturing operations
CORE operating system discipline and operational excellence mindset
Shopfloor problem-solving and troubleshooting capability
Process ownership and execution rigor
Manufacturing flow and productivity understanding
Credibility through hands-on operational experience
Graduates will work directly alongside:
Operations teams
Production supervisors
Technicians and machinists
Manufacturing engineers
Quality teams
Supply chain and planning teams
Key exposure areas include:
CNC machining, assembly, and special processes
Daily operations management and production execution
Manufacturing flow and disruption management
Aerospace quality systems awareness (AS9100 / NADCAP)
Productivity improvement and waste reduction initiatives
OEE and operational performance analysis
Root cause investigation and corrective actions
Continuous improvement projects and Lean practices
Safety, quality, and compliance execution
The objective of Year 1 is to develop engineers who are operationally grounded and capable of understanding manufacturing from the production floor perspective before progressing into functional specialization.
Year 2 – Engineering & Cross-Functional Development Rotation
After building strong operational foundations, graduates will rotate across key functions to broaden their technical, business, and systems understanding.
Rotational exposure may include:

Materials / Supply Chain
Operations Leadership
Industrialization & Process Engineering
Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence
This phase develops:
Engineering and technical depth
Systems thinking and business acumen

Graduates will be assigned real business projects aligned to:
Quality improvement
Productivity enhancement

Key Responsibilities
Participate actively in daily manufacturing and production operations
Support operational execution and shopfloor problem-solving activities
Analyze manufacturing data and operational performance trends
Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
Support continuous improvement and productivity initiatives
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on engineering and operational projects
Apply CORE operating system principles in day-to-day activities
Drive operational discipline in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity
Present project updates, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership teams
Demonstrate strong learning agility, ownership, and teamwork throughout the program

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.]
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
