Collins Aerospace’s Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico (GETC-PR) is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Power & Controls organization.  We are looking for a strong, passionate problem-solver with an action-oriented, collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations. 

In this role you will support the Integrated Product Development Team to drive cost reduction projects on parts that are in Produce to Deliver Phase, as well as support IPT’s for Design and Development programs. You will also collaborate with cross functional teams in Windsor Locks, CT and Phoenix, AZ.

This position will sit at our Santa Isabel, PR location. Candidate must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish and enforce Digital Controls Product Line focused design/manufacturing/procurement strategies.
  • Identify, develop, and implement cost reduction opportunities.
  • Define CORE manufacturing technologies required in support of the Product Line strategy.
  • Ensure Design for Manufacturability & Assembly during the proposal and product definition phase of design. This includes following the Design To Cost Standard work SWO-COM-M-26-PE.
  • Lead LRU/Part Cost reduction projects on products in the Produce to Deliver phase.
  • Work with Industrial Engineering (for make parts) and Supply chain (for purchase parts) on annual standards reviews
  • Global OPS and Supply Chain process change review and approval.
  • Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) part level ownership including communication, risk management and project requirements
  • Present to Engineering and Program Management as well as Customer representatives
  • Coordinate design changes with customers (Internal and External) and suppliers
  • Analyze component reliability metrics for improvement opportunities
  • Responsible for creation of detailed technical schedule and execution of these schedules
  • Domestic/International travel expectations up to 20%

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management experience PMI or Agile
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project – create program schedule
  • Teamcenter, PowerPoint and Excel experience
  • Experience working across a highly matrixed organization, including team members, suppliers, and customers
  • Experience with task detail planning, budget planning and project execution
  • Component testing experience
  • Experience with Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA)
  • Continuous Improvement training or experience
  • Cost Control Manager certified – CAM
