Job Summary:

The utility position is responsible for cleaning of buildings, grounds, and equipment including, but not limited to restrooms, mopping floors, trash removal, material handling. Must be able to work from heights and operate fork trucks. Perform grounds keeping including snow removal, grass cutting using equipment such as push lawnmowers, string trimmers, tractors, riding mowers, and trucks having snowplows and snow blowers.  Painting walls, floors, and equipment. Carpentry work, crate, and rack building using powered wood working equipment and hand tools. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Service, clean, or supply restrooms including gathering and emptying trash cans.
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks
• Mow or trim lawns or shrubbery, using mowers or hand or power trimmers, and clear debris from grounds.
• Use powered and hand tools to perform any other additional required tasks regarding your department.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A high school diploma, GED, or similar work experience.
• Have experience doing similar utility work along with experience operating grounds keeping equipment in the summer and winter months.
• Must be able to perform utility responsibilities from elevated heights and trainable to use cranes, hoists, and fork truck.
• Must be able to wear a respirator if necessary.
• Must have the ability to work any shifts and overtime including weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior utility/maintenance work experience
