Job Summary:

The Pratt and Whitney Quality and Process Engineering (MCL) Organization is seeking an energetic, self-director individual. Contributor to support the East Hartford Q&PE MCL group. The MCL is responsible for metallurgical reports for production parts, testing and validation to blueprint and specifications requirements of various aerospace raw materials and finished parts.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in investigations involving complex and diversified chemicals and metallurgical problems, using established as well as innovative techniques.
• Perform microstructural analyses related to the evaluation of aerospace material for compliance to standards.
• Familiar with techniques including sample preparation, microscope operation, and image data collection and analysis.
• Perform testing of coating, laser, braze, paint and bonding of test pieces.
• Possess a strong work ethic; the ability to work independently, and prioritize workflow, is critical.
• Provide clear, concise, and accurate lab reports.

Basic Qualifications:

• B.S degree in Metallurgy, Material Science or related field.
• Successful candidate must have 5+years of experience using analytical instruments to evaluate, materials and a firm understanding of lab protocols.
• Working knowledge of various types of analytical test equipment
• An understanding of general manufacturing processes.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Additional Information:

• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
