Summary

The Pratt & Whitney East Hartford Repair Operations (EHRO) is searching for a hardworking and high-energy Operations Manager (Cell Leader – M4) to lead first shift operations at our East Hartford, CT repair station.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Union Hourly employees to accomplish multiple surface treat operations.

  • Ensure, and improve, employee safety by performing risk and ergonomic assessments of the cell’s processes.

  • Actively coach and support team to foster cooperation and employee engagement in cell growth.

  • Operate independently to drive production to meet short- and long-term cell goals in quality, turnaround time, and on-time delivery.

  • Optimize the production schedule by understanding part, machine, and employee qualifications.

  • Utilize Excel data and CORE tools to reduce part rework and employee labor variance.

  • Execute cross-functional training plan to ensure coverage at critical operations.

  • Coordinate with EHRO Engineering to facilitate repair development schedule across two business units.

  • Lead cost reduction and cycle-time improvement efforts working with cell engineers.

  • Mitigate workstop risk by maintaining inventory of consumables and understanding part number usage for consumables.

  • Produce biweekly presentations to management on cell performance.

  • Ensure 100% completion of required company and Environmental Health and Safety training.

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of bargaining unit contract.

  • Complete time and attendance on-time and accurately.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree and 5+ years of experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Military, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Aviation industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience; OR Associate’s degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience; OR an Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate and 10+ years of relevant industry experience; OR high school diploma and 12+ years of relevant industry experience.

  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access and handle sensitive data required to support our government and military programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in STEM field; Engineering, Business or Supply Chain.

  • Experience in production, operations, manufacturing or engineering.

  • Personnel management experience, particularly within a bargaining unit / union workforce environment.

  • Aftermarket Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry experience.

  • Experience in / knowledge of gas turbine repair and FAR 145/Far 121/FAR 65 qualifications.

  • Organizational and project management skills, PMP certification preferred.

  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement principles, and/or LEAN, CORE, ACE, or Six-Sigma training.

  • Experience working with Solumina MES, Teamcenter, SAP ERP, and MS Office Suite.

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve business goals.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including senior level management.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
