How does Amazon know whether it is delivering faster than the competition? That question is answered by the Speed Measurement and Analytics team within Customer Experience and Business Trends (CXBT), and as a Business Intelligence Engineer I on this team, you will help build the answer. You will own data pipelines, dashboards, and analytical deep-dives that feed into Pulse, the team's benchmarking product that tracks competitive delivery speed across 10+ geographies worldwide. Your work will directly inform how Amazon invests in speed improvements across Worldwide Stores. Key job responsibilities
- Build and maintain data pipelines, ETL jobs, and data models that power competitive delivery-speed benchmarking across your assigned geography or horizontal function, ensuring data freshness, accuracy, and completeness.
- Write and optimize SQL/PySPARK queries to produce weekly and monthly speed benchmark reports, translating raw data into actionable insights for regional leads and senior leadership.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Program Managers, and peer Business Intelligence Engineers to align data definitions, standardize metrics, and support the onboarding of new geographies into the benchmarking platform.
- Investigate data anomalies, root-cause quality issues, and implement validation checks so that discrepancies are caught before they reach stakeholders.
- Maintain clear documentation of your data artifacts and analytical methodology, and identify opportunities to automate manual processes for improved pipeline reliability and reporting efficiency.

A day in the life
You will start your day checking pipeline health and dashboard accuracy for your assigned geography, then move into writing or refining SQL queries that feed the latest benchmarking signals into Pulse. You might spend part of the afternoon investigating a data discrepancy flagged by a regional lead, or meeting with a Product Manager to scope a new competitive analysis. Between tasks you will review a teammate's code, update your documentation, and brainstorm ways to automate a manual reporting step.

About the team
The Speed Measurement and Analytics team sits within Amazon's Customer Experience and Business Trends (CXBT) organization. Our mission is to give Worldwide Stores a single, trusted view of how Amazon's delivery speed compares to competitors globally. We are a collaborative group of Business Intelligence Engineers and Product Managers working together to expand coverage to new geographies and new speed signals. Basic Qualifications:

- 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with one or more industry analytics visualization tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy, PowerBI) and statistical methods (e.g. t-test, Chi-squared)
- Experience with scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, or R)

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's degree, or Advanced technical degree
- Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design
- Experience with statistical analysis, co-relation analysis
