Collins Aerospace is looking for a 2nd Shift Manufacturing Supervisor who will work independently and will manage the assembly line and sequence of complex operations. You will validate and improve manufacturability/producibility of existing products, implement manufacturing processes and changes to improve production and reduce costs. You will be responsible for the performance of all tasks and services in support of assembly operations, production, and business unit objectives. In addition, you will lead a team of assemblers to ensure all compliance standards are upheld, customer demands are met, and lean manufacturing methods are employed.

You will be required to work onsite at the facility in San Marcos, TX.

Work shift: Monday – Friday, 3pm - 11:30pm.

Eligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Re-design cells according to volume projections and product technology for a manufacturing process and product builds in semi-complex cell or full value stream, in compliance to EH&S and Quality.
  • Partner with advanced cross-functional teams, use advanced Lean/ACE tools to design & improve producibility (e.g., 3P, LTP, etc.).
  • Lead cost reduction and process improvement projects and/or activities to reduce DLH, cycle time, etc.
  • Lead project management for cell growth in support of site rate increase/transfers.
  • Support new production introduction (NPI), out of production (OOP) transitions, process transfers and implementation.
  • Use leading metrics to identify systemic gaps to proactively optimize processes, driving solutions using RRCA tools, to improve key performance indicators (e.g., FPY, QN's, IPU, QN's, OEE, Customer escapes, etc.).
  • Partner with multiple engineering disciplines to support one-off repairs and prototypes.
  • Improve manufacturing processes / products to achieve producibility (managing tool orders, shop aid design, etc.).
  • Create and maintain manufacturing process documents (routings, BOM, visual aids, job instructions, etc.).
  • Support implementation of digital initiatives (robot, automation, etc.) for processes in scope, and capable to lead CI events.
  • Interface with customers to understand customer needs and issues and ensure that the customers receive satisfactory standards of service.
  • Oversee production operations (shop floor management, workforce management, and flow disruption management), maintenance, plant engineering, scheduling, and personnel.
  • Perform activities that expand beyond the scope of Operations and Manufacturing Engineering discipline.
  • Communicate and make presentations to senior level leadership.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and a minimum of 2 years prior relevant experience with specialized knowledge of technical or operational practices or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
  • Experience in manufacturing technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement Tools.
  • Experience of shop floor procedures, planning, technical information and/or Building Material (BOM).
  • Able to utilize/interpret engineering drawings/blueprints & specifications to drive producibility improvements (High Complexity)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience
  • TeamCenter, SharePoint, SAP experience
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma or Core
  • Flexible and motivated with strong relationship building skills - internal, external with customers and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of aluminum, steels, nickel base alloys, titanium, composites, graphite epoxy, Kevlar, fiberglass and/or adhesives.
