Summary:

Engine Loads and Rotor Dynamics Analyst (Hybrid) will develop complex dynamics simulations of engines that will be used in all phases of the design.  They will work closely with hardware owners to impact engine designs and how they are supported in the field.  Expect to be involved with developing and coordinating tests to validate simulations while contributing to detailed designs, test plans, test data analytics and fabrication plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of engine loads (e.g. normal maneuver, extreme events such as fan blade off), and rotor dynamics analysis (e.g. rotor unbalance sensitivity, critical speed) in support of engine programs while working closely with hardware and system owners to ensure accuracy of engine level dynamic models
  • Collaboratively develop system design and build requirements to ensure engines meet requirements for acceptable loads, vibration and durability characteristics while maintaining safety under extreme load events such as bird strikes or fan blade off.
  • Participate on teams troubleshooting engine issues during testing and in the field.
  • Utilize the test and field data to continually improve analytical models and modeling techniques.
  • 10% or less travel.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 5+ years prior engineering/technical experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field with 3+ years’ experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or an Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computational skills with modeling and simulation experience with static and dynamic analysis codes
  • Experience with modeling rotating equipment
  • Applied experience in the areas of rotor dynamics, rotor balancing and dynamic testing, including designing and performing measurements and analyzing test results
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), organization, and decision-making skills
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Demonstrated prior research and development experience
