Your key responsibilities
- Develop brief understanding of the client’s activities and compliances related to Canadian tax and tax accounting matters and make sure they are properly addressed.
- FS Compilation and Review Engagement – Knowledge of CaseWare, Accounting adjustments, Tax adjustments, Finalization of accounts etc.
- Preparation of review and compilation financial statements and tax returns in accordance with Firm standards for clients in a variety of businesses
- Bookkeeping activities and assist clients with set-up and maintenance of corporate records.
- Global direct tax compliance – Assist in preparation of income tax returns such as T2, T1, T3 and T5013 along with other allied forms and workpapers for Canada jurisdictional income taxes with internal teams.
- Income Tax Provision – Prepare quarterly and annual tax provision for Canadian Compliance purposes. Work with EY country teams for sign-off and delivery to clients.
- Forecasting – Prepare, review and manage taxes forecast and report to client and consult with EY country teams, where necessary.
- Tax Payments – Prepare and review estimated the tax payments and manage tax payment process.
- Tax account reconciliation – Prepare and review Tax account reconciliation, collect supporting documents and work with clients on reconciling items. Prepare and book rectification journal entries, where needed.
- Other Tax functions – Prepare and review other taxes entry package, return to provision entries, etc., and submit for review for client’s approval.

To qualify for the role, you must have
- Bachelor’s / master’s degree in accounting / MBA Finance
- 3-5 years of experience in Canadian tax compliance, good knowledge and experience in income tax accounting, including a mixture of Big 4 and industry experience.
- Strong accounting skills with an interest to learn Canada and Non-Canada direct tax compliance.
- Strong communication skills, Strong computer skills, including an intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Awareness of other taxes in the Canada
- Ability to read, interpret and apply tax legislation
