The AWS Global Sustainability organization is seeking an Energy Efficiency Manager to lead high-impact energy and water efficiency initiatives across AWS's data center and IT infrastructure (AWS Infrastructure) footprint in the Americas. This role is the primary point of contact in the Americas to drive continual energy and water efficiency improvements, and to deliver regulatory requirements related to data center and IT infrastructure energy and water performance, efficiency, use and consumption.

You will own projects and programs ranging from technical analyses and data collection to regulatory and business-driven requirements for best practices in energy and water efficiency. This position will work collaboratively with internal and external partners to progress initiatives that re-shape our business's energy and water solutions, including how these resources interact with each other and with infrastructure design and operating decisions. You have effective analytical, organizational and leadership skillsets with experience delivering high-quality on-time work. This position involves direct contact with experienced engineering, operations, and sustainability peers, senior leaders, regulators and business partners. A successful candidate will have knowledge of the data center sector, energy management systems and efficiency best practices, experience delivering technical analysis and solutions, and a general passion for energy and water efficiency. Effective stakeholder communication, and ability to work independently and influence others are key for success in role.

Key job responsibilities
- Deliver technical and commercial analysis on energy and water efficiency in AWS Infrastructure, including the trade-offs between the two resources, to inform and influence design, engineering, operations, and sustainability.
- Deliver the tools, mechanisms, and build the relationships with local and global teams to ensure continual energy and water efficiency improvements in AWS Infrastructure.
- Own regional Americas delivery of the AWS global energy management system, including ISO 50001 certification, building energy performance standards, internal and external audits, corrective actions, and management reviews.
- Own Americas regulatory requirements and advocacy for AWS Infrastructure relating to energy and water efficiency/use/consumption, partnering with legal, policy and relevant external/internal stakeholders.

About the team
AWS Global Sustainability builds the data, science, measurement, technology, and program infrastructure that drives AWS toward Net-Zero Carbon by 2040, Water+ by 2030, and sustained leadership in carbon free energy (CFE) procurement. Our work spans emissions forecasting and abatement, CFE portfolio management, embodied carbon reduction through supplier engagement, critical material resilience, circular economy investments, energy and water optimization, and mandatory and voluntary sustainability disclosures. We build the platform that measures and improves sustainability performance across AWS Services.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in a technical Engineering field (Power/Industrial/Systems/Data/Energy), Business Administration, Business Analytics or similar field
- 5+ years experience in energy & water management and efficiency in data center or critical infrastructure industries
- Experience delivering tools, mechanisms, programs relating to the continual improvement of energy and water efficiency, performance, and optimization.
- Experience with technical, commercial and regulatory analyses relating to energy and water efficiency in data centers or critical infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Masters degree in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Energy management, Engineering, Sustainability
- Prior experience in data center infrastructure industry
- Certified in energy management (CEM/CEA), energy efficiency, professional engineering, or auditing
- Experience with financial concepts like time value of money, net present value, ROI, lifecycle assessments
- Experience with project budgeting and vendor management for CAPEX and OPEX spend
- Experience using GenAI tools to simplify, innovate, and maximize productivity and business deliverables

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
