This opportunity is intended for conversion to a full-time role that will not offer work authorization sponsorship in the future (full-time conversion pending performance evaluation post internship and available headcount). Responsibilities:

• Supports the design of user experiences across printer hardware interfaces, control panel operating systems and UI, PC and mobile software, setup and onboarding flows, maintenance tools, scanning workflows, and partner-facing management solutions. 
• Works with designers, researchers, product managers, software, firmware, and program teams to understand user needs, technical considerations, product goals, and assigned deliverables. 

• Assists with qualitative and quantitative research activities such as usability studies, concept validation, competitive reviews, experience audits, and customer journey analysis. 

• Helps translate research inputs and stakeholder context into user flows, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, visual concepts, specifications, and design recommendations. 

• Uses design systems and established patterns to support consistency across products, services, and touchpoints. 

• Participates in design reviews, incorporates feedback, and helps document design rationale, decisions, and implementation guidance. 

• Supports experience review checkpoints by identifying potential usability, consistency, accessibility, and brand alignment issues. 

• Communicates progress clearly, organizes assigned work, asks questions, and raises risks or dependencies early. 

• Explores AI-powered design tools and emerging workflows while remaining grounded in user needs, responsible design, product feasibility, and HP experience quality. 

Education and Experience Required:

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Experience Design, User Experience, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Product Design, Industrial Design, Human Factors, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field. 
• Must be enrolled full time at an accredited university.
• Has no more than 24 months of prior work experience professionally related to the intern requisition they are applying to (not including internships, teaching assistance, research work, or military experience)
• Able to obtain work authorization in the United States in 2027, and not require sponsorship in the future.

Knowledge & Skills 

• Foundational understanding of user-centered design and end-to-end experience design 

• Developing skills in interaction design, user flows, wireframing, prototyping, information architecture, or usability principles 

• Visual design sensitivity, attention to detail, and interest in accessibility, consistency, and brand alignment 

• Exposure to user research, usability testing, concept validation, or synthesis through coursework or projects 

• Familiarity with Figma; exposure to FigJam, Miro, or similar collaboration tools is helpful 

• Ability to organize work, document decisions, present ideas, ask thoughtful questions, and incorporate feedback 

• Strong communication, collaboration, curiosity, learning agility, and problem-solving skills

The pay range for this position is $35 to $40 per hour (applies to US candidates only).  Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
