Join Hitachi Energy and help maintain the East West Interconnector, a vital HVDC link connecting Ireland and Great Britain. Based primarily at the Portan HVDC Converter Station, Red Road, Batterstown, Co. Meath, A86 RY28, you will support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of one of Ireland's most important energy assets.

You will work with world-leading HVDC technology, develop specialist skills, and contribute to projects that support the transition to a more sustainable energy future. Working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, you will gain hands-on experience, solve complex technical challenges, and support activities across Ireland, the UK, and occasionally internationally.

Mandatory requirement: Participation in a 24/7 on-call rota is required. To be considered for this position, you must live, or be willing to relocate, within 60 minutes of Portan HVDC Converter Station, Red Road, Batterstown, Co. Meath, A86 RY28 and be able to respond to site emergencies when on call.

 

How you'll make an impact:

• Support the safe and reliable operation of the East West Interconnector.
• Perform inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Support commissioning, upgrade, and outage activities.
• Provide technical support to customers and site teams.
• Complete maintenance records and technical reports.
• Contribute to root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support knowledge sharing and technical development within the wider team.

 

Your background:

• Qualified Electrician, Electrical Technician, or Engineering graduate.
• Experience working with electrical power systems or industrial electrical equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
• Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota.
