About the Role
Intel's Silicon Photonics Quality & Reliability team is seeking a Silicon Photonics Quality & Reliability Engineer to support reliability assessments, qualification activities, and technology development for advanced photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
In this role, you will work closely with process integration, technology development, design, manufacturing, and quality teams to evaluate device reliability, analyze data, investigate failures, and support the development of robust qualification methodologies. This position provides an excellent opportunity for engineers who are passionate about photonics, semiconductor technology, reliability engineering, and continuous learning.
What You’ll Do
Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Support reliability characterization and qualification activities for silicon photonic devices and technologies.
- Analyze reliability, characterization, and manufacturing data to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Execute Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analyses to evaluate device performance and reliability.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support technology development and process certification activities.
- Assist with root cause investigations and failure analysis efforts using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Develop technical reports and communicate findings to engineering teams.
- Support qualification testing activities including environmental, electrical, and reliability stress testing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, reliability, and manufacturing maturity.
- Utilize data analysis tools to drive engineering decisions and improve process understanding.
- Support the transfer of new technologies into manufacturing environments.

Qualifications:
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Master's degree in Optical Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical field with 1+ years of relevant experience. Or PhD in the same field with 6+ months of relevant experience.
- You must have the experience described above in the following:
- Silicon Photonics TD / Manufacturing experience.
- Data extraction and analysis skills (JMP/ILM/REL/PCS/SQL Scripting).
- QnR/Process/device/product engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Design of Experiments (DOE) principles and structured problem solving.
- SPC/DOE principles and data analysis.
- Exposure to the methodology of qualifying optical devices, test methods to evaluate the device's performance and reliability (HTOL, THB/DH, MSV, TC, HTS, ESD etc.), and failure analysis.
- Device/semiconductor physics and electrical characterization techniques in areas pertaining to wafer fabrication.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $122,440.00-232,190.00 USD
