Digital Technology Engineer / Industry 4.0 / IoT Engineer
Help build the smarter, connected factories of the future.
Thales is looking for an Industry 4.0 / IoT Engineer to drive the adoption of digital technology across our UK manufacturing operations. You’ll design, develop and deploy connected industrial solutions that improve performance, resilience and decision-making across our factories.
What you’ll be doing
Develop and deploy Industry 4.0 and IoT solutions, including smart tooling, vision systems, automation and real-time machine monitoring.
Design solutions for device connectivity, sensor integration and industrial data management.
Work with manufacturing teams to identify opportunities for new digital technologies and take solutions from concept through to deployment.
Support existing automation, IoT, machine and environmental monitoring solutions.
Work with technology vendors and partners to evaluate and implement new hardware and software.
Support applications, software updates and device configuration.
What we’re looking for
Experience deploying technologies such as Smart Tooling, Vision Systems, Automation or Machine Monitoring.
Knowledge of industrial IoT and networking, including MQTT, OPC UA and TCP/IP.
Strong programming skills in Python and JavaScript.
Experience with Linux administration and container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
2+ years' experience within IoT, network or software engineering, ideally within manufacturing.
Experience contributing to complex, multidisciplinary projects.
Strong stakeholder and communication skills.
A relevant technical degree, such as Computer Engineering or Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
Great if you also have
Experience with data pipelines, databases, AI/machine learning, AWS, Azure, Grafana, Node-RED, statistical analysis, Digital Twins or Lean Six Sigma would be an advantage.
