Airgas is Hiring for a Lead Plant Maintenance Technician in Santa Fe Springs, CA!

Pay: $46.00 /hr

Repairs and maintains facilities, buildings, machinery, and equipment utilized in the compression and liquefaction of gases. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical support and resolve inquiries regarding company equipment. Fosters continuous plant compliance with all FDA, Safecor, and DOT regulations through the execution of the following core responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance Standards
Prioritize and uphold company safety policies and proper utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Conduct periodic plant inspections to ensure safe and efficient continuous operations.
Report any accidents, injuries, or safety incidents to management immediately.
Perform all duties in alignment with company policies and all federal, state, local, and DOT regulations.
Project Leadership & Technical Support
Lead and support region-wide projects for the installation, extraction, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of bulk tanks, valves, and cryogenic pumps.
Perform post-installation operational testing and conduct training for relevant personnel.
Serve as a technical resource, resolving inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
Assist with administrative workflows, including Purchase Orders, CAPEX, PRAs, Management of Change (MOC) processes, and related action items.
Equipment Maintenance & Diagnostics
Inspect and maintain pumping apparatus, tanks, valves, and associated monitoring devices to support Field Service Technicians.
Repair and maintain plant equipment (e.g., compressors, scrubbers, instrument panels, electrical systems) using hand tools, welding equipment, and testing instruments in accordance with blueprints, P&IDs, and manuals.
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and identify and resolve underlying issues using standard diagnostic test meters.
Dismantle defective equipment using hand and power tools for repair or replacement.
Perform welding, brazing, and soldering on mechanical parts and systems.
Repair and replace piping and related equipment using standard pipe-fitting tools.
Adjust and repair instrument control panels, motors, and switches, and repack compressors and pumps.
Operate metalworking tools to fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical components.
Replace filtration materials as required and maintain accurate logs in maintenance tracking systems.
Operations & Site Support
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse material handling equipment.
Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly environment in the Santa Fe Springs Maintenance shop.
Operate company vehicles to travel to various regional sites for on-site equipment maintenance.
Maintain a professional personal appearance and ensure company vehicles are kept clean and presentable.
Embody core values by acting with care, adapting to the work environment, and engaging in the "Be, Act, Engage" framework to build trust and foster growth.
Contribute to additional relevant tasks and duties as assigned by management.

Are you a MATCH?
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience and education.
Experience working with electrical circuits, motors, compressors, pumps and drives in an industrial setting.
Must be able to safely drive a forklift.
Solid understanding of technical aspects of plant operations equipment, plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems etc.
Working knowledge of facilities, machines and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Brazing certificate or boiler license is preferred but not required.
At least one year of knowledge and experience of arc and gas welding with at least two years industry experience is preferred.
Competent in plumbing, carpentry and masonry work.
Working knowledge of SAP helpful.
Organizational skills to keep track of and report on maintenance activity.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include prior experience using Outlook, Word and Excel. ∙ Self-starter, self-motivated, independent, well-organized with attention to detail.
Team player with positive attitude; strong collaborative skills; ability to influence without having direct authority.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, comprehend and articulate technical procedures, governmental regulations, MSDS, safety rules, manufacturer operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with others in both favorable and unfavorable situations regardless of status of position. Accepts cultural diversity and establishes effective working relationships.
Leadership skills; Identifies requirements; allocates, and effectively uses information, personnel, time, and other resources necessary for goal accomplishment; establishes appropriate courses of action for self and/or others to accomplish specific goals; develops evaluation criteria and tracking systems for monitoring goal progress and accomplishment; and specifies objectives, schedules, and priorities.
Must be customer service oriented and able to interact in a professional, respectful and courteous manner.
The annual base salary range for this position in Californiais $$46.00/hr. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Airgas considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
