Critical Environment Specialist – JLL

What this job involves:

The Critical Environment Specialist provides advanced hands-on technical expertise and operational support for mission-critical engineering operations at an assigned data center or critical facility within the Wells Fargo portfolio. You will ensure delivery of high-quality engineering services through direct execution of critical system operations and maintenance, support operational excellence with a focus on maximum uptime and reliability, and contribute to achievement of client and organizational objectives. This position requires strong technical expertise in critical environment systems, advanced hands-on operational skills, developing leadership capabilities, and commitment to operational excellence through adherence to established procedures and safety protocols while maintaining stringent uptime requirements for 24/7/365 operations.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Provide advanced hands-on technical expertise and operational support at assigned site during scheduled and emergency activities, ensuring alignment with operational standards and stringent uptime requirements for mission-critical facilities
  • Execute day-to-day hands-on engineering operations with excellence and consistency in all critical environment engineering activities including 24/7/365 operations support and shift coverage
  • Directly operate and maintain critical facility infrastructure including UPS systems, emergency power generation, precision cooling, fire suppression, and building automation systems to deliver exceptional service quality
  • Monitor and respond to real-time system performance including equipment runtime hours, alarm conditions, environmental parameters, and operational efficiency to support uptime targets
  • Execute accurate and timely use of Maintenance Management Systems (Corrigo and CFIMS) for work order completion, critical asset documentation, preventative maintenance execution, and equipment performance tracking
  • Serve as professional technical point of contact for clients during daily operations, maintenance activities, and routine technical interactions
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to Stationary Engineers, HVAC Technicians, Electricians, and other engineering staff, fostering culture of technical excellence and professional growth specific to mission-critical operations

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; minimum 3 years of progressive hands-on experience in critical environment engineering operations, data center operations, mission-critical facilities management, or related field
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience operating and maintaining data centers or other mission-critical facilities with focus on equipment reliability
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of critical building systems including UPS systems (static and rotary), emergency power generation (diesel and natural gas), N+1/2N redundancy configurations, precision HVAC systems (CRAC/CRAH units), and electrical distribution (480V/208V systems, transformers, switchgear, PDUs, busway)
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems (Corrigo experience preferred) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to other sites for training or support as needed (up to 5%)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents including electrical single-line diagrams, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, equipment manuals, safety rules (arc flash labels, NFPA 70E), and operating procedures
  • Strong execution capabilities focused on daily operations, preventative maintenance completion, and equipment reliability; demonstrated ability to work effectively in high-pressure, time-sensitive operational environments with focus on safety and quality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP) or working toward certification
  • Universal CFC EPA certification (required for HVAC refrigerant work); OSHA 10 certification; NFPA 70E Electrical Safety training
  • Experience with Wells Fargo or other financial services sector clients operating mission-critical infrastructure; experience in Tier III/IV data center operations
  • Trade certifications (Apprentice Electrician, Stationary Engineer License, HVAC/R certifications, Building Operator Certification)
  • Experience with BMS platforms (Tridium, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric); thermography training (awareness level); vibration analysis training (awareness level)
  • Experience with sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency improvements in critical environments

Location: Onsite
Work Shift: Flexible shift coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays as part of 24/7/365 critical operations and on-call rotation
