Job Description
As a WFM Long-Term Planning Analyst, you will create efficient, implementable headcount plans. You will own variable cost budgeting for your scope to meet financial goals and enable scaling, identifying the optimal levels of operations to meet volume demand. You will work closely with Program, Business Operations, Analytics, and Finance to ensure the right headcount is available to meet business needs at an hourly granularity. You will identify risks and provide mitigation plans, and proactively plan for high-demand peaks to ensure operational readiness.
You must be highly analytical, able to work effectively in a matrix organization, and have the ability to break complex problems down into steps that drive operational improvements at Amazon speed. You will bring innovation, a bias for action, and an ability to prioritize and execute on a fast-moving set of strategic priorities. You will be responsible for creating weekly plans, as well as thinking big towards automating existing processes to drive efficiency.
An ideal candidate should have the ability to pull and analyze data with ease, drive process improvements, standardize existing processes, and eliminate root causes of defects within current systems, with a proven track record of reducing the occurrence of problems through proactive root-cause elimination.
Key job responsibilities
• Understand forecasting, demand planning, supply planning, and drive overall operational readiness to meet cost and service targets.
• Champion automation — identify manual processes and drive automated, scalable solutions to improve supply planning, and operational efficiency.
• Work across internal, cross functional partner teams as well as external stakeholders/customers at the project/program level and are able to hold leadership discussions, with limited guidance.
• Have a good understanding of efficiency concepts, programmatic approaches, and tools utilized in supply chain modelling.
• Timely and accurate delivery of headcount plans for respective ROC operations programs considering factors of forecast and operational productivity inputs like AHT, NPT etc. for each site.
• Identify need of different data reporting mechanisms and collaborating with analytics and tech teams and work with stakeholder teams to deep dive and analyze trends across different programs to minimize defects.
• Impact organizational strategy that can be both short or long terms goals such as OP1/OP2.
• Manage the analysis of daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of key planning performance indicators.

About ROC (Relay Operations Center)
The Relay Operations Center (ROC) is Amazon's central command and control center for Transportation Execution across the Amazon Supply Chain network. Supporting multiple geographies including North America (NA), Europe (EU), and India (IN), ROC ensures hassle-free, timely pick-up and delivery of freight from vendors to Amazon fulfillment centers and from fulfillment centers to carrier hubs.
In case of any exceptions during the transportation lifecycle, ROC steps in to resolve the issue and keeps all stakeholders informed. Beyond tactical problem-solving, ROC is charged with understanding trends in network exceptions and automating processes or proposing process changes to streamline operations. This involves network monitoring and significant analysis of network data.
Overall, ROC plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of Amazon's transportation network and thereby has a direct impact on Amazon's ability to serve its customers on time.
About ROC WFM
The Workforce Management (WFM) team within ROC is responsible for ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time to support 24/7 transportation operations. The WFM function encompasses:
• Volume forecasting and demand planning across all ROC operational sites
• Long-term and short-term capacity planning and resource allocation
• Real-Time Monitoring (RTM) of staffing levels, adherence, and service levels
• Scheduling optimization and shift management across geographies
• Driving automation and AI-powered solutions to enhance planning accuracy and operational efficiency
The WFM team partners closely with Operations, Tech, ACES, Finance, PXT, and Product teams to deliver scalable workforce solutions that support ROC's mission of flawless transportation execution.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of business analyst, data analyst or similar role experience
- 2+ years of Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, power pivots, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Experience with SQL
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field
- Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience partnering with executive-level leaders to identifying and solving business issues
