Are you intrigued or passionate about Machine Learning (ML) and Analytics? Our team is looking for talented back-end engineers to help us build the next generation of integrated development experiences targeted towards analysts, data engineers, and scientists.
This job is for an exciting new product which aims to bring together the best of AWS to serve customers that live-and-breathe data, and who use data to build ML models to drive critical business processes.
As a back-end engineer on this team, you'll be responsible for driving key deliverables across teams building out interactive and responsive user experiences. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define product features, drive the system architecture and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product. Above all, you will build an impactful product.
Key job responsibilities
Work closely with UX designers and product managers to develop friendly UI experiences.
Work closely with other engineers to architect and develop the best technical design.
Develop/maintain operational rigor for the frontend of a new AWS service.
Own and deliver key features within a new interactive ML application
Collaborate with other AWS SDEs for features that cut across AWS.
Engage with customers and other AWS partners.
A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing a design document from a teammate, providing feedback that strengthens both the proposal and the engineer's growth. Later, you lead a technical discussion with a partner team to align on an interface contract for a shared dependency. In the afternoon, you write code for a critical component, applying the same rigor in organization and error handling that your team has come to emulate. Between deep work sessions, you check operational dashboards and refine an alarm threshold based on recent traffic patterns.

Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
