Job Description
Are you a seasoned engineering leader who thrives on building high-performing teams and shaping the technical direction of products that impact millions? We are looking for a Senior Manager, Software Development to lead multiple software teams working on innovative solutions in Workforce Management Solution and Time & Attendance at Amazon's scale and complexity. These systems reside on the critical path of Amazon operations. In this role, you will own a multi-year technical strategy, drive engineering excellence across your organization, and partner closely with product management and cross-functional senior stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes for Amazonians worldwide.
As a leader of leaders, you will define the vision for your engineering organization, grow and mentor managers and senior engineers, and build an inclusive culture where your teams can do their best work. You will navigate ambiguity, make high-judgment trade-offs between competing priorities, and establish scalable mechanisms that keep your teams delivering with quality and speed. If you are energized by coaching talent, setting technical direction, and solving problems that sit at the intersection of people and technology, we want to hear from you.
Key job responsibilities
• Define and own a multi-year technical strategy for your organization, aligning software architecture and product roadmaps with long-term business goals and customer needs.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of software development managers and senior engineers, building an inclusive engineering culture focused on career growth and operational rigor.
• Partner with product management, design, and cross-functional teams to prioritize efforts across accessibility solutions, GenAI-powered experiences, and spatial computing initiatives.
• Establish engineering standards and scalable mechanisms to audit quality, operational performance, and the customer experience across your teams' systems and services.
• Drive organizational planning, including long-term resource and staffing strategies, talent reviews, and succession planning to ensure sustainable growth.
About the team
Our team builds technology that directly improves the experience of Amazonians across the globe. Timehub's data feeds are foundational to Amazon's operational infrastructure, with downstream consumers including labor planning, productivity tracking, payroll processing, and finance reporting. To support rapid global expansion and new and evolving businesses like AWS, Leo, and Prime Air, the architecture is evolved into a complex multi-stack environment. Any disruption to TimeHub directly impacts employee satisfaction, operational continuity, and payroll accuracy, making it foundational for Amazon's global workforce operations.
Timekeeping at Amazon sits at the intersection of pay accuracy, regulatory compliance, labor relations, and operational continuity. When overtime calculations are misconfigured, holiday pay rules are misapplied, shift premiums are missed, or meal compliance tracking breaks down, the result is pay defects that require intensive retroactive corrections, audits, and reporting. These defects also consume HR and payroll resources while exposing the company to labor complaints and government penalties. The complexity compounds with Amazon's global footprint and pace of expansion. Operating across 60+ countries requires deep expertise in jurisdiction-specific labor laws covering overtime thresholds, statutory holidays, on-call treatment, night shift rules, working time frameworks, and leave entitlements.
Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams
- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
