As part of the global controls team, you will work with highly motivated experts and innovators in the data centre industry. You will be responsible for innovating, deploying, optimising, and maintaining the automation systems within the data centres. Automation systems consist of building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS). Using Amazon leadership principles, you will develop new processes and standards while innovating in the controls space.
As a Controls Engineer you will:
- Perform controls root cause analysis.
- Schedule and supervise Quarterly maintenances for BMS and EPMS.
- Provide vendor management.
- Develop scope of work for site improvement projects.
- Support Global Controls projects team.
- Work under tight project timelines.
- Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements and navigate difficult situations.
- Review controls sequence of operation and provide feedback to design.
- Financially manage service invoices.
- Provide technical assistance to internal customers during life cycle of the data center.
- Participate in a global on-call schedule.
- Grow in technical ability by learning a multitude of different automation platforms.
Controls Engineer may also perform the following:
- Ensure data center controls are deployed in accordance with scope of work (SOW) and specifications.
- Develop building automation controls drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Size controls valves and damper actuators and select controls devices.
- Review and provide feedback on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) drawings.
- Develop controls bill of material (BOM).
- Develop and modify controls logic programming.
- Develop and modify graphical user interface.
- Act in a project sponsor capacity.
Key job responsibilities
Deployment of data center controls, on time, with effective management of vendors to ensure minimal defects at the point of Power and Facilities Hand-Off (PFHO)
Delivery of critical projects to upgrade data center automation
Service and support provided to partner teams, providing diagnosis and resolution of Loss of Visibility (LOV), Loss of Resilience (LOR), Large Scale Event (LSE), Critical Scale Event (CSE), and other operations impacting events
Resolution of tasks within predefined Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Delivery of further initiatives to improve the efficiency of our data centers or our operations procedures

About the team
The Data Center Capacity Delivery Asia-Pacific Controls Deployment and Service (DCCD APAC CDS) team delivers and services the control systems which monitor and ensure the health of our data centers. APAC CDS’ mission is to safely provide our customers with the unmatched reliability, security, and performance that AWS is known for. APAC CDS covers six disciplines of deployments, projects, service, colo, on-call support, and management.

Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience
- 2+ years of vendor management experience
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Experience in full lifecycle deployment and maintenance of Industrial automation system: PLC, SCADA, BMS, EPMS, DCS, HMIs
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of data center or mission critical facilities (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.) experience
- Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, SQL, or similar) for data extraction, reporting, or controls system configuration
- Experience with cloud-based SCADA, BMS, or industrial IoT platforms (e.g., AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT, Ignition Cloud Edition)
- Familiarity with data analytics platforms (e.g., AWS IoT Analytics, SageMaker, or equivalent) for industrial data processing
