As a Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the development of high-performance electromechanical products, transforming requirements into reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will drive product innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence throughout the product development lifecycle. You will play a key role in advancing technologies, solving complex engineering challenges, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability. This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact on critical power infrastructure while contributing to a more sustainable energy future.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Act as the lead mechanical design engineer for new product development, product upgrades, and technology development projects related to On-Load Tap Changers (OLTCs), motor drives, and transformer accessories.
  • Develop innovative design concepts that meet customer, functional, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and serviceability requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for existing products focusing on reliability, performance, manufacturability, quality, cost, and sustainability.
  • Lead mechanical design reviews and provide technical recommendations throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support laboratory testing, prototype evaluations, product validation, and qualification activities.
  • Define test objectives, test setups, acceptance criteria, and verification plans.
  • Participate in root cause analyses of field failures, production issues, and customer complaints, identifying corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in FMEA, risk assessments, and technical reviews for new products and product modifications.
  • Collaborate closely with materials, electrical, manufacturing, quality, service, and supply chain teams.
  • Develop and maintain design guidelines, best practices, lessons learned, and engineering standards.

Your background

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Significant experience in mechanical design and product development within industrial equipment, power systems, electromechanical products, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), reliability engineering, and cost optimization principles.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and product data management systems.
  • Experience developing engineering documentation, specifications, test plans, design standards, and technical reports. Understanding of material selection, mechanical calculations, tolerance analysis, fatigue, wear, and failure mechanisms.
  • Experience supporting prototype development, laboratory testing, product validation, qualification activities, and design verification processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Working knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, including FMEA and product design reviews.
  • Good written and spoken English.
