Job Description
The successful candidate will be primarily based within the Division of Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. An Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery candidate would be recruited as a joint faculty hire between the departments of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, while maintaining their primary clinical practice within the Head and Neck Division. The selected candidate will provide multidisciplinary clinical care to patients with head and neck cancer at MUSC and the NCI-designated Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston, South Carolina. Primary clinical responsibilities will include the surgical management of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck, including extirpative surgery and, depending on the candidate’s training and expertise, reconstructive surgery. The successful candidate will participate in a comprehensive multidisciplinary head and neck cancer program and collaborate closely with colleagues in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Pathology, Radiology, Speech-Language Pathology, and other disciplines involved in the care and rehabilitation of patients with head and neck cancer.
The candidate will also contribute to the academic mission of MUSC and Hollings Cancer Center through clinical excellence, teaching, scholarship, and innovation. Responsibilities will include the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees in the clinic and operating room.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must possess either:
• An MD or equivalent degree and have completed an accredited Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery residency program; or
• A DDS, DMD, or equivalent degree and have completed an accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.
Candidates must have completed, or be completing, advanced fellowship training in head and neck surgical oncology. Applicants must be board certified or board eligible in their respective specialty and eligible for appropriate licensure and clinical practice in South Carolina.
