Job Description

As a Risk Manager within the Resilience Pillar of WWOS Risk & Resilience, you will deliver operational continuity across Amazon's global network through a Follow-the-Sun operating model. You will coordinate multi-site disruption events, support Risk Working Group escalations, and contribute to Crisis Management Team activations to mitigate impacts to life/safety, operations, and brand. The majority of your time is spent driving program delivery (policy development, procedure reviews, SOP creation, and continuous improvement) while providing direct support to GSOC during active events. You own your portfolio of resilience workstreams and partner directly with Customer Experience, Line Haul, Last Mile, and Fulfillment teams to ensure resilience plans reflect how Amazon actually moves packages.

Key job responsibilities
• Coordinate multi-site disruption events, Risk Working Group escalations, and Crisis Management Team activations, working with GSOC, CX, Line Haul, Last Mile, and Operations partners to minimise impact to life/safety, operations, and brand.
• Deliver program work including policy development, operational procedure reviews, SOP creation, and framework updates that keep resilience capabilities current and audit-ready.
• Support GSOC during active events by providing resilience coordination, protection recommendations, and stakeholder communication.
• Build and maintain partnerships with CX, Line Haul, Last Mile, Fulfillment, and regional operations teams to ensure contingency plans reflect operational reality.
• Drive continuous improvement through post-event analysis, lessons learned closure, and playbook validation.
• Produce data-driven briefings for senior leadership on disruption performance, program status, and risk posture.
• Develop and maintain resilience frameworks, playbooks, and operational procedures that scale across regions and time zones.
• Contribute to Follow-the-Sun coverage, ensuring seamless handovers and consistent standards across the global team.


A day in the life
Most days you are focused on program work: reviewing and updating policies, developing SOPs, driving milestone delivery on resilience programs, and raising the bar on operational standards. You manage your own workload against deadlines and proactively identify gaps in resilience coverage. When a multi-site event escalates or a CMT activates, you shift to operational mode: coordinating the response, aligning CX and Operations partners on protection deployment, and ensuring life/safety actions are prioritised. Once the event resolves, you drive the after-action review and close out improvement actions. You operate across time zones through the Follow-the-Sun handover, ensuring seamless coverage without formal on-call. You partner directly with CX, Line Haul, and Last Mile stakeholders to ensure the plans you build are grounded in how Amazon operates.

About the team
The Resilience Pillar sits within WWOS Risk & Resilience and owns the response to disruptive events, ensuring operational continuity, end-to-end contingency planning, crisis coordination, and governance structures that enable 24/7/365 business continuity at network scale. The Central Team operates within the Resilience Pillar as the Follow-the-Sun coordination hub, managing live events and driving program delivery across all regions. The team works in close coordination with GSOC (incident management and triage), Dynamic Risk Management (escalations), Risk Preparedness (training and exercises), and Technology partners. We partner directly with Customer Experience, Line Haul, Last Mile, and Fulfillment teams. We are builders, not administrators. Everything we create is designed to be used operationally, at scale, every day.

Basic Qualifications:

- 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of managing food safety and quality in a large-scale retail or manufacturing environment experience
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field
- Knowledge of retail food code and regulations governing grocery retail at local, state, and federal levels
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience handling confidential information
- Experience interacting with local food safety regulators

Preferred Qualifications:

- 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
- Experience with SQL and Excel
