About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an experienced Product Owner (individual contributor) for the build of a new Repo and Securities Lending trading platform, including collateral optimization and allocation capabilities. The role will be responsible for shaping and delivering the product roadmap, tracking delivery schedules, timelines and derailers, and highlighting potential scope creep, bottlenecks and challenges to stakeholders.

The individual is expected to independently manage and execute end-to-end delivery, partnering closely with Repo and Securities Lending trading, middle office, operations, collateral, risk, finance and technology stakeholders. The candidate will lead product change through the Agile delivery lifecycle, run respective scrums, and actively participate in global team discussions, projects and process enhancement plans.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the product roadmap and execution for the new Repo and Securities Lending trading platform, with particular focus on collateral optimization, collateral allocation, inventory management and inventory utilization.

  • Translate front office and middle office needs into clear target-state capabilities, features, user stories, acceptance criteria and delivery priorities.

  • Bring strong understanding of the end-to-end Securities Finance trade lifecycle across Repo Trading and Securities Lending, including trade capture, inventory management, matching, confirmation, settlement, lifecycle events, margin, segregation, collateral management, optimization, accounting, reporting and close-out.

  • Drive enhancements in trading capabilities, electronic execution and risk management tools across the Repo and Securities Lending product lifecycle.

  • Partner with traders, middle office, operations, collateral teams, risk, finance, legal, compliance and technology to design solutions that are commercially effective, operationally sustainable and well controlled.

  • Manage product delivery schedules, dependencies, risks, scope changes, bottlenecks, testing readiness and implementation outcomes across business and technology teams.

  • Define and track product outcomes and performance measures to support prioritization, launch readiness and ongoing optimization, including product adoption, delivery progress, operational efficiency, inventory utilization, control effectiveness and risk reduction.

  • Work within an Agile Product Development framework, including Scrum, and use workflow and collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA to document and deliver business requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria, and to maintain a well-prioritized product backlog.

  • Directly engage with senior leaders and global stakeholders to communicate progress, trade-offs, decisions, issues and required actions.

  • Use enterprise AI tools, including Copilot platforms, to accelerate analysis, requirements drafting, meeting synthesis, delivery artefacts and status reporting, ensuring outputs are validated and used in line with applicable policies.

Functional and Technical Skills

  • Deep business knowledge of Repo and Securities Lending markets, ideally gained in Repo trading, Repo middle office, collateral management or a closely related product function.

  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end Repo trade lifecycle, including trade capture, matching, confirmation, inventory management, inventory utilization, settlement, lifecycle events, margin, collateral allocation and optimization, accounting and regulatory reporting.

  • Understanding of inventory management, margin, collateral eligibility, availability, allocation, segregation, optimization methodologies, substitutions, concentration considerations and operational constraints.

  • Ability to understand business requirements, goals and objectives and design practical target-state solutions.

  • Ability to break down complex platform change into capabilities, features, user stories, acceptance criteria and implementation increments.

  • Experience developing product strategy and roadmaps based on business value, risk, dependencies, and delivery capacity.

  • Knowledge of Agile Product Development methods, including Scrum, and proficiency with Confluence and JIRA for backlog management, sprint planning, refinement, business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and product documentation.

  • Experience with system testing, integration testing, UAT, implementation readiness and post-release validation for trading or enterprise platforms.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel; experience with Tableau / Power BI or similar analytical tools is beneficial.

Executive Communication

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with traders, product specialists, technology teams and senior leaders across global businesses.

  • Create concise, executive-ready presentations and updates that clearly explain outcomes, delivery status, trade-offs, risks and decisions required.

  • Translate complex markets, platform and operational issues into clear, outcome-oriented conversations.

  • Build strong communication channels and trusted relationships across business, operations, control and technology partners.

  • Use AI-supported summaries and narratives judiciously for executive communication, ensuring accuracy, context and appropriate review.

Change Mindset and Collaboration

  • Work effectively at the intersection of business domain expertise, product ownership and change delivery.
