About the role

The Integrated Facility Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and implementing the overall safe operation, maintenance, repair, reliability and performance of a landfill gas to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) plant and wellfield.  This role provides technical leadership to site technicians, helps coordinate daily work execution, supports training and knowledge transfer, maintains compliance, optimizes production, improves reliability, and ensures safe and effective operation of the facility. This position requires up to 10% travel per month depending on business needs, plant maturity, training support, and project requirements.Handles highly complex issues. Serves as an expert over one RNG integrated plant (combined plant and wellfield) facility. Consults with senior management to formulate and establish broad plans and policies. Reports to the RNG Regional Manager. Self-motivated with the personal drive to manage people and issues proactively.

Key accountabilities

• Ensure full coverage of all Lead Integrated Operations Technician duties.
• Lead and support the safe operation and troubleshooting of the plant, wellfield, and control devices in the most efficient and productive manner while maintaining compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), government rules and regulations, site-specific Title V Operating Permit requirements, prescribed safety and environmental standards, commercial agreements, and NSPS guidelines.
• Provide day-to-day technical guidance, coaching, and work direction to Integrated Operations Technicians; support onboarding, training, and skill development for new and existing technicians.
• Develop work schedules, assignments, and rotations for employees.
• Review, approve, and submit employee timesheets and expense reimbursements.
• Provide employees with honest and timely feedback and coaching on performance.
• Conduct annual performance reviews with employees. 
• Lead the employee hiring process for the facility.   
• Model and reinforce all plant and landfill safety policies and procedures. Ensure appropriate use of personal protective equipment, including hard hat, FR clothing, safety shoes, safety vest, hearing protection, safety glasses, gas monitoring equipment, and other PPE required by work tasks and company policies.  
• Coordinate and perform periodic inspections of plant equipment to determine proper and normal operating conditions. Check, record, and review operational data such as fluid levels, temperatures, pressures, and trends; initiate or recommend corrections as needed.  
• Review daily operating reports, logs, and records to verify operating characteristics, identify trends, and support reliable control of plant equipment.  
• Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting are completed for plant and wellfield instrumentation and equipment.
• Oversee tuning, adjustment, and maintenance of wellfield collection and liquid management systems to maintain compliance, optimize gas collection, limit air intrusion, and ensure complete records.
• Ensure wellhead repairs, adjustments, and readings are documented, and coordinate corrective actions to maintain continuous wellfield compliance.
• Ensure landfill flare systems are properly inspected, maintained, repaired, and documented in accordance with the approved scope of work.
• Detect, troubleshoot, and correct faulty or malfunctioning mechanical and electrical components, devices, and equipment.  
• Operate advanced instrumentation and process control systems and support technicians in effective use of control systems, alarms, trends, and process data.  
• Diagnose plant equipment and wellfield malfunctions during emergencies and direct or coordinate activities to restore normal operation and/or safely shut down malfunctioning units.  
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters.  
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical system wiring from control wiring up to 480 volts. Install, remove, and modify equipment as needed and within qualifications.  
• Notify the Regional Manager of shutdowns, major operating changes, production impacts, safety concerns, or compliance-related issues.  
• Notify a wellfield team leader and designated data specialist of wellfield damage, malfunctions, deviations, and/or compliance concerns.
• Maintain all plant equipment and structures in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and Archaea Energy guidelines.  
• Maintain and reinforce housekeeping expectations for the plant building, control room, restroom, break room, grounds, facility vehicles, tools, and equipment.  
• Oversee the daily distribution of all operating reports and spreadsheets 
• Oversee the maintenance of all assigned operating logs in proper order, including flare logs, incinerator logs and SSM forms.  
• Support the planning, implementation, and scheduling of maintenance, training, wellfield expansions, and special projects.
• Ensure that all daily production reports, flow meter data, greenhouse gas meter data, sales meter data and Start-up-Shut down Malfunction (SSM) reports are up to date and delivered (daily/weekly/monthly) to the appropriate individuals/agencies as requested.  
• Ensure operation of the wellfield during the assigned shift in the most efficient and productive method to maintain compliance with the site-specific Title V Operating Permit, New Source Performance Standards (NSPS), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), operating agreement, and prescribed safety and environmental standards.
• Supply all required wellfield data to the designated Wellfield Data Specialist.
• Oversee the ordering, procuring, and managing required parts, tools, materials, and supplies to support safe and reliable operations.  
• Respond promptly to callouts and work overtime as required; coordinate technician response during operational needs, outages, or emergencies.  
• Perform analytical tests as needed and document as required, including pH, conductivity, methane, H2S, moisture, calibration of data collection equipment, and gas analysis instruments. Ensure analytical equipment calibrations and recordkeeping are current.  
• Implement, support, and verify safety procedures, including lockout/tagout procedures and other critical safety controls.  
• Develop and maintain the annual operating budget for the assigned plant.
• Evaluate operations, maintenance, and performance of facility.   
• Develop action plans to maximize performance and implement improvements. 
• Plan and execute special projects to improve service quality.   
• Monitor plant performance to ensure adherence to Company and Industry standards and compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines.   
• Review daily operating reports, logs, and records to verify operating characteristics, identify trends, and support reliable control of plant equipment.
• Communicate and coordinate plant activities with clients (utility company and landfill personnel). 
• Maintain good relations with landfill personnel.
• Assist the RNG Regional Manager on special projects.
• This list is not exhaustive; the Facility Manager may be assigned additional duties as determined by management.

Essential education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field, or equivalent work experience, consisting of 5-7 years of plant operations, maintenance and wellfield experience in an RNG plant, power plant, or other chemical processing facility.

Essential experience

• 4+ years of management experience or demonstrated leadership providing technical direction, training, coaching, or informal leadership to operations or maintenance personnel.
• Advanced understanding of process control systems as applied to landfill gas collection and processing. 
• Strong technical and troubleshooting skills with ability to read, interpret, and apply complex technical manuals, schematics, prints, and piping and instrumentation drawings. 
• Ability to troubleshoot a variety of sensors and transducer systems; calibrate and troubleshoot pressure, level, flow, and temperature sensors; understand the complete plant process and how it is affected by the control system; and troubleshoot mechanical systems as required. 
• Knowledge of basic math, gas chemistry, piping, instrumentation, electrical systems, and mechanical process equipment. 
• Ability to read drawings/schematics, follow established procedures, and work independently with minimal supervision. 
• Ability to provide clear work direction, technical coaching, and constructive feedback to technicians while escalating issues appropriately to management. 
• Ability to recognize colors and distinguish between red and green status indicators on PLCs and wire colors. 
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, permits, compliance records, and technical guidance. 
• Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, operating summaries, maintenance notes, and compliance-related documentation. 
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, technicians, supervisors, management, contractors, landfill personnel, and customers. 
• Ability to solve practical problems, make sound operating decisions, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in routine and emergency situations. 
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 
• Proficiency using computers, including MS Word, Excel, email systems, operations databases, and monitoring equipment to measure, record, trend, and adjust operating parameters; perform fault finding and repair; and support scheduled maintenance. 
• Strong hands-on mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, chemical, and process equipment experience. 
• Previous landfill gas and/or gas processing experience required. 
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and must pass background check, hearing test, and DOT drug test. 

Training Requirements

• Demonstration of control system operation including information access, control manipulation, and alarm retrieval. 
• Explanation of the operation of the compressors and gas treatment and processing equipment.
• Demonstration/simulation of a unit start-up, shutdown, and/or casualty response as described in the Operating Instructions and governed by prudent operating practices. 
• Environmental and regulatory compliance and reporting requirements. 
• Learn and demonstrate basic gas collection system operation including wellhead data collection, wellfield balancing, and wellhead/wellfield maintenance. 
• Learn and demonstrate operation of a landfill gas control device/flare, including information access, start-up/shutdown, and alarm retrieval/response. 
• Learn and demonstrate use of gas monitoring equipment (4 gas monitor, Envision gas analyzer, gas chromatograph, etc.). 
• Learn and confirm knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance and permit requirements. 
• Demonstrate the ability to operate fleet, all terrain, and other vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. 
• Complete all safety and other company-required training. 
• Complete the following hazardous waste training classes within the first 6 months of hire date:   
• Hazwoper 40-hour initial training and 8-hour recurrent refresher course 
• Storing and Shipping Hazardous Waste: Large Quantity Generators  
• Hazardous Materials Transportation Certification

How much do we pay (Base)? [INSERT BASE PAY RANGE $103,000 - $115,000

*Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees).
