This role is a great fit for an engineer who wants to work beyond requirements and documentation and gain hands-on experience with integrated avionics systems in the lab and, when appropriate, on the aircraft.

You will work alongside systems engineers, architects, software and hardware teams, test engineers, and customer representatives to develop and verify capabilities across the full engineering lifecycle.

This is an onsite position located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop, update, and review system and subsystem requirements for integrated avionics capabilities.

  • Support requirements decomposition, allocation, traceability, and verification planning.

  • Develop engineering artifacts supporting system design, integration, qualification, and airworthiness activities.

  • Develop and execute requirements-based test procedures.

  • Perform system integration and testing within Systems Integration Laboratories (SILs).

  • Support informal and formal verification, robustness testing, and engineering test activities.

  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, interface, and system-level issues.

  • Investigate defects and support root-cause analysis and resolution.

  • Collaborate with architecture, software, hardware, Safety, Cybersecurity, Airworthiness, and Test organizations.

  • Support aircraft and flight-test activities as needed.

  • Participate in technical reviews and communicate engineering status, risks, and findings.

  • Support technical planning, estimates, and future program efforts.

  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, tools, and team execution.

  • Work with senior engineers and technical leads to expand knowledge of CAAS architecture, requirements, integration, and verification.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field.

  • Experience in systems engineering, integration, verification, test engineering, software, hardware, or development of complex technical systems.

  • Experience working with technical requirements, engineering documentation, or test activities.

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.

  • Ability to travel periodically in support of integration, customer, or aircraft-test activities.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with military or commercial avionics systems.

  • Experience with rotary-wing aircraft or integrated aircraft systems.

  • Experience with H-47 or H-60 aircraft platforms.

  • Experience developing, reviewing, or verifying system requirements.

  • Experience working in a SIL, integration lab, or test environment.

  • Experience developing or executing engineering test procedures.

  • Experience troubleshooting integrated hardware/software systems.

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet, or similar avionics interfaces.

  • Familiarity with DOORS, JIRA, PREP, GitLab, SVN, or similar engineering lifecycle tools.

  • Experience with requirements-based verification and validation.
