The Senior Cloud Solutions Engineer partners with application development teams to design, onboard, build, modernize, deploy, and support cloud-native solutions on Humana’s Cloud 3.0 Azure platform. This role is focused on application engineering, development enablement, CI/CD, design pattern adoption, security alignment, and release readiness rather than core infrastructure operations. The position helps business units and product teams adopt approved Cloud 3.0 design patterns, align to enterprise architecture and security requirements, and implement scalable application solutions using approved technology stacks. The engineer works closely with software engineers, solution architects, security, platform teams, and delivery stakeholders to ensure applications are built and released according to Humana standards for onboarding, development, deployment, resiliency, and troubleshooting.
Key Role Duties
Application and Solution Engineering
- Partner with development teams to design and implement cloud-native application solutions on the Cloud 3.0 Azure platform.
- Translate business and application requirements into scalable application designs using approved Cloud 3.0 design patterns.
- Advise teams on application topology decisions such as shared vs. dedicated deployment models.
- Support application modernization and acceleration efforts for services moving to Cloud 3.0.
- Help development teams identify application dependencies, integration patterns, and deployment requirements.
- Develop application codes using latest Humana approved technology stacks, including usage of approved Humana AI tools.
Cloud Onboarding Support for Development Teams
- Guide teams through Cloud 3.0 onboarding prerequisites, including:
- Application portfolio setup in ServiceNow
- Artifact definition in iServer/LeanIX
- Logical architecture and data flow documentation
- Accessibility needs identification (internal vs. external)
- Disaster recovery tier classification
- Database high availability / failover considerations
- Estimated deployment sizing, including AKS deployment considerations
- Assist teams in preparing onboarding deliverables such as:
- Resource build sheets
- Distribution lists and AD groups
- EA intake submissions
- EIP/PIRC readiness inputs
- ARB review support
Development Lifecycle Enablement
- Enable and support development teams in setting up Argo onboarding for application components.
- Validate that CI/CD tools and pipelines are ready to support build, test, deploy, and release processes.
- Promote engineering best practices for:
- Automated testing
- Code quality
- Code coverage
- Release governance
- Deployment consistency
- Support teams in establishing reusable development patterns and standard delivery approaches.
Release, Quality, and Compliance Readiness
- Prepare teams for production release readiness, including GLAPI certification where required.
- Ensure application teams align with approved security, architecture, and technology standards.
- Review development and deployment approaches for conformance with enterprise requirements.
- Identify risks, gaps, or non-standard implementation needs early and coordinate mitigation with relevant teams.
Troubleshooting and Engineering Support
- Provide technical guidance to development teams during onboarding, development, deployment, and post-deployment troubleshooting.
- Help diagnose application deployment issues, platform integration issues, and release pipeline challenges.
- Partner with platform and shared services teams when application issues require cross-team resolution.
- Improve engineering support documentation and reusable guidance for common development issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Software engineering teams
- Enterprise architecture
- Security and compliance partners
- Cloud platform enablement teams
- DevOps / release engineering
- Product and delivery stakeholders
- Act as a technical advisor to ensure development teams effectively use approved cloud capabilities without deviating into unsupported patterns.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud platform operations, solution engineering, or infrastructure/application modernization.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting solutions in Microsoft Azure.
- Demonstrated experience with cloud-native architecture patterns, including scalable, resilient, and secure application design.
- Experience deploying and supporting containerized workloads using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or similar Kubernetes platforms.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and release automation for cloud-hosted applications.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, automation, and environment provisioning.
- Working knowledge of cloud security, identity/access management, and enterprise governance controls.
- Experience supporting application onboarding, deployment, troubleshooting, and operational readiness in an enterprise cloud environment.
- Ability to interpret and apply architecture standards, approved technology patterns, and platform guardrails.
- Experience with application dependencies such as networking, access controls, database connectivity, high availability, and disaster recovery considerations.
- Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and production support skills across cloud infrastructure and application layers.
- Experience collaborating with architecture, security, platform engineering, and application teams to deliver compliant cloud solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to document logical architectures, data flows, and deployment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a large, regulated enterprise environment, preferably in healthcare or another highly governed industry.
- Experience with Humana Cloud 3.0 onboarding standards, cloud design patterns, or enterprise cloud modernization practices.
- Familiarity with enterprise intake, architecture review, and governance processes such as application portfolio setup, artifact registration, and design review.
- Experience with Argo onboarding and GitOps-based deployment models.
- Familiarity with code quality practices such as code coverage, quality gates, and release readiness standards.
- Knowledge of database high availability, failover planning, and disaster recovery tiering in cloud environments.
- Experience supporting both internal and external application accessibility requirements in Azure.
- Cloud certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or DevOps Engineer Expert.
- Experience with cloud cost optimization, resource sizing, and capacity planning.
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership for cloud adoption and modernization initiatives.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
