Job Description
Join our Rehabilitation & Orthospine Unit as a Unit Secretary and play an essential role in keeping the unit organized, efficient, and connected. You’ll serve as a key resource for patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team while helping ensure the daily operations of the unit run smoothly.
What You’ll Do
- Process physician orders accurately and efficiently.
- Enter and maintain appropriate information in patient charts and electronic systems.
- Ensure patient charts contain the necessary forms and documentation.
- Answer and appropriately direct telephone calls and unit communications.
- Maintain adequate supplies, forms, and other needed items for the unit through Materials Management.
- Serve as a central point of communication for the nursing unit.
- Support the Charge Nurse and Clinical Director with administrative and clerical needs.
- May serve as a preceptor for new Unit Clerks and assist with their orientation and training.
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical behavior, confidentiality, and respect in all interactions.
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to support safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong reading and writing skills.
- Previous computer experience, knowledge, or training.
- Adequate typing and keyboarding skills.
License & Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.
