Job Description

Join Amazon's Builder Experience Team (BeXT) as a Data Center HR Partner and make every day better for the Builders who power AWS. This is a 100% on-site role where you'll be embedded in the Data Centers you support, serving as the voice of Builders and the strategic HR partner to site leadership. You'll work across a cluster of Data Centers, visiting sites daily to ensure every Builder feels valued, engaged, and supported.

What we are looking for:
• Adaptability. Manage multiple scenarios utilizing HR expertise, consulting skills, and influence.
• High Judgement. Exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations. Serve as first point of escalation for Builder concerns.
• Strategic Thinking. Connect sentiment trends and HR data to bigger picture operational goals and translate them into clear recommendations that drive leadership action.
• Influencing. Influence multiple levels of the organization, from builders to senior site leaders, without direct authority.
• Coaching. Develop site leadership in the flow of work.

This is a 100% Onsite role and requires the ability to travel to assigned Data Center sites within an operational cluster (estimated 25% travel).
• Data Center environments are 24/7 operational facilities; flexibility to support off-shift populations and respond to time-sensitive people matters is expected.
• This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports; leadership is demonstrated through influence, mentorship, and cross-functional partnership.

Key job responsibilities
Builder Advocacy: Build trust through consistent floor/onsite presence, site walks & Gemba walks. Proactively monitor Builder sentiment trends using listening mechanisms. Support Builder queries with discretion and expertise. Foster and role model an environment of inclusion for all Builders, ensuring they feel fully engaged in their work and valued for who they are. Establish relationships with employee representative boards.

Strategic Partnership: Partner with Data Center leaders at multiple levels to develop proactive strategies and goals focused on the Builder experience. Identify root causes using sentiment trends and HR data and provide site-level recommendations to site leadership. Coordinate cluster-wide communications in partnership with site leadership. Present at monthly All Manager and All Team Meetings.

HR Expertise: Apply HR fundamentals to problem-solve across talent management, performance management, compensation, and employee relations. Resolve complex cases independently, navigating Amazon Policies with high judgment. Conduct workplace investigations in collaboration with Builder Relations. Resolve systemic pay, internal transfer, and hiring defects in partnership with central teams. Build procedural policy/governance standards (e.g., SOPs).

Leadership Development: Consult, coach, and develop site leadership through decision-making with empathy and sound judgment. Identify development opportunities through data and anecdotal feedback from onsite floor walks and observation. Educate leaders on HR operating model standards. Support interviews for site manager and technical manager roles.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with partner teams such as HRBPs and Centers of Excellence (COEs) to innovate, implement, and deploy HR strategies across your cluster of Data Centers. Partner with New Hire Experience teams on orientation and onboarding. Manage through ambiguity in a fast-paced, continuously innovating environment.

A day in the life
You'll conduct weekly Gemba walks, engaging directly with Builders to understand their experience. You'll leverage Builder sentiment data to advocate for their needs, partnering with site leaders to develop proactive strategies focused on engagement. You'll consult and coach leadership through talent management, performance management, compensation decisions, and employee relations issues—applying empathy and sound judgment. You'll collaborate with stakeholders to align on Builder engagement actions. You'll conduct workplace investigations, manage Builder concerns as the first point of escalation, and own site-specific people projects that drive impact.
