M&A Senior Consultant for Business Applications

Location: Wrocław / Katowice - 2 days in office / 3 days remote

Let us introduce you the job offer by EY GDS Poland – a member of the global integrated service delivery center network by EY.

We are looking for a M&A Senior Consultant for Business Applications to support complex transformation and separation programs, including large-scale divestitures acting as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the full lifecycle of separation initiatives. In this role, you will primarily focus on defining the approach, shaping solutions, and guiding execution. You will help clients understand required changes across their technology landscape, business processes, and operating models, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

The opportunity

Our team is one of largest M&A groups of advisors, focusing on transformation advice for private and public clients. Our deep sector knowledge, our global network with local market experts, enable us to add real value to our client’s projects.

Your key responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end technology workstreams in strategic and complex transformations, or M&A transactions
  • Contribute to technology strategy and architecture discussions, including system separation, integration, and optimization
  • Coordinate complex applications integration, migration, separation and rationalization projects and manage relations with client stakeholders, including C-level
  • Develop high-quality client deliverables (presentations, assessments, business cases) with a strong storyline and executive focus
  • Translate business needs into scalable, technology-enabled solutions across IT domains
  • Leverage AI tools and innovative approaches to accelerate analysis, solution design, and delivery efficiency
  • Quickly ramp up on new functional or technical areas, applying structured thinking and AI-assisted problem solving where prior experience is limited
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and automation in client environments and proactively bring improvement ideas

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Proven experience across the enterprise application lifecycle, from delivery to retirement
  • Strong understanding of application architecture, integrations, interfaces, and technology dependencies
  • Hands-on experience with application migration, integration, separation, consolidation, and retirement strategies
  • Ability to define migration strategies, roadmaps, waves, and cutover plans
  • Strong project management skills across scope
  • Ability to manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and remediation actions
  • Knowledge of application support models and IT service management processes
  • Experience working with business, technology, vendor and service-provider stakeholders
  • Ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, decision-ready recommendations
  • Experience in preparation of project cost estimates, business cases, and resource plans
  • +6 years’ experience in IT project management, IT applications delivery and in IT consulting roles
  • Ability to travel and work across EU (up to 20% annually)
  • Excellent written and verbal command of English (German and other European language will be a plus)
  • Occasional work outside normal business hours to work with international teams (e.g. United States)

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience in M&A transactions, including integrations, separations, or transformations
  • Experience assessing application portfolios, migration readiness, dependencies, and disposition options
  • Understanding of application-related infrastructure, software licensing, vendor contracts, and separation constraints
  • Experience coordinating application testing, data migration, cutover, and stabilization
  • Knowledge of IT budgeting, cost structures, and Capex/Opex principles
  • Relevant application or service management certifications
  • University degree in field related to IT
  • Experience in building strong working relationships with senior clients, including influence, advice and support to key decision makers
  • Already gained experience in international environment
