Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Test Sustainment Engineer III to support the sustainment, reliability, and continuous improvement of production test systems, equipment, instrumentation, and software used across our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will independently troubleshoot complex production test issues, perform root-cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and provide technical support to manufacturing operations.

As a Test Sustainment Engineer III, you will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, IT/OT, and other cross-functional teams to resolve production issues and maintain the reliability and performance of factory test systems. You will also support test-system lifecycle activities, including configuration control, upgrades, cybersecurity requirements, equipment modernization, and obsolescence management. This position provides an opportunity to take technical ownership of assigned test systems while supporting manufacturing performance and customer delivery.

This onsite position is based at our Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

What You Will Do:

  • Independently troubleshoot production of test equipment, instrumentation, software, and system-level issues.
  • Perform root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions for recurring and production-impacting test issues.
  • Own the sustainment of assigned test systems, including configuration control, documentation, backups, upgrades, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Analyze test-system performance, downtime, and recurring failures to identify reliability and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support equipment modernization, software and operating-system upgrades, hardware replacements, and obsolescence mitigation.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, IT/OT, and other technical teams to resolve complex production issues.
  • Communicate technical risks, recovery plans, and required actions to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers.
  • Support onsite or remote troubleshooting across manufacturing locations as required.
  • Participate in test-system lifecycle planning and initiatives that improve reliability, equipment performance, and factory capability.
  • Travel up to 25% to other manufacturing locations in Arizona, Connecticut, and Illinois to provide onsite technical support and assist with test system sustainment activities.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated professional or educational experience communicating in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics manufacturing, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, PLCs, instrumentation, environmental stress screening (ESS), acceptance test procedures (ATP), or functional test systems.
  • Experience with test software sustainment, configuration control, operating-system upgrades, or obsolescence management.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience providing technical guidance or mentoring to less experienced engineers.
