Job Description

We are looking for a talented and experienced Legal Counsel to join our EMEA Operations Legal team, based in Paris.

As Last Mile Legal Counsel you will be responsible for providing legal advice to the fast-growing Amazon delivery business in France and Belgium. The role requires high judgement, acumen and ability to think out of the box to adjust the legal framework to novel and unprecedented situations and business expansion plans.

You will be a trusted advisor for the business teams you support, liaising directly with senior business leaders, legal leadership and other key internal functions for developing and executing legal strategies and address regulatory requests. The role encompasses negotiations on strategic transactions and managing sensitive commercial litigation and pre-litigation disputes. Simplifying legal processes in creative, business-centric ways and build compliance guardrails, are also key responsibility for the role.

You will also be part of the legal team supporting Italy and Spain's delivery business and you will have close interactions with other legal peers both in the EU and US to define consolidated guidelines and drive pan-EU and global projects.

The role is based in Amazon's Paris office.

Basic Qualifications:

• Outstanding academic qualification in French law
• At least 5+ year’s post-qualification legal experience in international law firms
• Strong background in commercial litigation and transactional matters
• High degree of independence, initiative and decisiveness but also desire to be challenged and think outside the box
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to act as Business Partner to Senior Management
• Great business judgment especially in ambiguous situations
• Ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment
• Excellent English language skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Spanish or Italian is appreciated
• In house experience and/or background in regulatory and competition matters are a plus
