Job Description:

Summary:    The applicant would be the Lead Best Practices interface between global quality, regional operations division quality, and site quality at the Americas regional manufacturing facilities. Using customer problem solving reports on high severity external issues, gap analysis will be performed at the Americas regional manufacturing sites to horizontally deploy corrective actions.  Systemically, existing standards will be reviewed to identify Best Practices. From the Best Practices, company standards will be proposed for global use and/or revised & implemented for improvements in the Americas Region.  The applicant would be required to work closely with the Americas Regional QA, Site QA and Global Quality groups to ensure that expected timing for various review stages and deliverables are met.

Essential Functions: Includes the following:

  • Lead cross-functional teams in systemic problem-solving for High Rank (A/B) external issues.
  • Ensure all processes of SASG: N70-01A (Corrective & Preventative Action) is completed.
  • Review, challenge, and propose updates to existing company standards including but not limited to: Global / Regional Rules (SASG’s/SASR’s/SASP’s); Equipment Specifications; Preventative Maintenance Plans; Control Methods
  • Lead CFT for horizontal deployment activities including gap analysis, horizontal deployment plan, and verification of implemented actions. (ROD & Site QA)
  • Monitor and ensure that risks/gaps are identified and horizontally deployed across Americas Region Sites.
  • Audit Americas Region Sites for deployment of identified risk actions.
  • Coordinate and communicate reviews, responses, and actions with resources across both Americas and Japan Regions.
  • Ensure that Americas Site QA and Japan global quality teams establish clear and concise timelines for when action items will be implemented and ensure they work towards meeting these timelines.
  • Collaborate with multiple CFT teams to ensure Master Schedules are compiled for weekly/monthly updates to internal Management and external customers.
  • Responsible for managing the Horizontal Deployment documentation and archives.
  • Aligning defined deliverables (meeting outputs) to the horizontal deployment review process (outcome)
  • Support improvement of future projects and future stages of current projects.
  • Support APQP throughout the multi-review Phase Gate cycle; Monitoring progress of each deliverable / each review stage (ie. Lessons Learned, PFMEA, Control Plan Development).
  • Provide status updates to requesting customers for horizontal deployment activity.
  • Get frequent feedback from KEY customers to gain a better perspective on customers’ expectations to continuously improve the horizontal deployment review process.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in Problem Solving and Program Management or Quality Management Systems with emphasis on leading horizontal deployment and Best Practice activities.
  • Must be willing to travel to audit Americas Region Sites and Customer Visits (frequency up to 30%)
  • Ability to self-prioritize and work efficiently both alone and in groups.
  • Problem solving skills: Data collection, time management, critical thinking, detail orientation, analytical skills.

Additionally, the ability to work independently with minimal direction is required as are strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with PCs and application software, such as MS Office tools is also required.

  • Preference to experience with Microsoft Project, Gantt Charts, or other Project Management software.

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree with 3 – 5 years and/or Master’s degree with 1 – 2 years in Engineering or Manufacturing related with a preference to Quality focus

Experience:  Minimum of 1-3 years applicable experience in automotive

Job level determined by various factors such as organization size, responsibility, career stage, and capabilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  leading cross-functional team meetings and mentoring the efforts of engineers/staff/managers who are responsible for sub-project activities. 

Working conditions:

Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Travel: Up to 30% domestic and international travel may be required. Travel may include visiting customers and manufacturing sites.
