The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 2600+ skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The INOPC team at Chennai supports Hitachi Energy’s units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.

Mission Statement

Support the mainstream transformer Product Marketing team, Sales organization, and Customers throughout the proposal process by supporting with techno-commercial offer submission by applying product knowledge, determining costs, preparing documentation, and following the required tender guidelines.

Your Responsibilities:

  • PMM to train tender specialist on Power Transformer portfolio. Assign the Tendering Engineer to specific countries and be trained on quotation process overview and allot clear area of responsibility. Leverage or utilize tool landscape.

  • Respond to customer requests and meet or exceed their expectations. Liaising with all the factory department teams with an effective collaboration.

  • Taking responsible in receiving and supporting for tender or enquiries. Liaise with engineering team to understand the specification and receive the technical offer. And, to carry out needed clarifications with customer.

  • Co-ordinating with engineering, factory planning, SCM, Quality and Logistics team to understand the technical aspects and support the quotation review. Reviewing and comment customer’s specification, requirements and determine appropriate solution for proposal.

  • Identifies and highlights potential risks in the bids or estimates or quotations, discuss and apply necessary mitigation techniques. Helping with reviewing certain legal aspects – Terms and Conditions of Sales and also participate in customer discussion as representative of the Product Marketing team.

  • Participating on risk reviews and internal negotiation. Communicating with Hitachi Energy and external factories for technical and commercial clarifications. Presenting proposed solution to Hitachi Energy Sales Team giving final approval – SOX compliance.

  • Supporting negotiation or clarification during bidding process. Developing and maintaining positive relationship with existing and new customers.

  • Finalizing orders and handover to PM team in an efficient manner and also order booking process in ERP. Carrying pre-qualification procedures for the factory, if required.

  • Ensuring cross-collaboration within the Sales or WCFE team, and actively promotes collaboration with HUB BU. Using of judgment and initiative necessary to identify priorities, solve problems, meet schedule, adapt to change, and choose the most efficient ways to do the work.

  • Tracking proposal status and follow-up with customers. Acting as call center for clarifications and support with possibility to open factory case(s).

  • Preforming technical and commercial analysis of competitive offers. Lost proposal analysis to obtain better future bidding. Providing market intelligence data.

  • Proposing process improvements to create a lean tendering process. Maintaining good documentation and contribute during internal and external audits.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with basic understanding of power transformers.

  • 3-7 years of experience, with a combination of engineering and/or tender/quotation experience in Transformers. Proficiency with CRM like SAP and BI tool landscape.

  • Experience with SAP / S4 HANA -Data handling. Experienced in connecting different data sources in 1 Power BI.

  • Proven experience with successfully organizing complex processes and activities to deliver high quality proposals.

  • Proven development and maintenance of positive, cooperative, team-oriented relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, clients, and others in contact with the job.

  • Marketing and Sales acumen with previous customer-facing experience preferably.

  • Ability to handle many proposals simultaneously. Ability to perform data entry for proposals & orders using internal tools.

  • Ability to interpret product specifications.

  • Proven team player skills.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills with strong organization and time.

  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
