The CSRD project was launched in March 2023 at the Headquarters and in Europe with the aim of ensuring compliance with the external reporting requirements of CSRD, achieving sustainable growth of the Hitachi Group and enhancing corporate value through CSRD compliance.
This role sits in Hitachi Europe/Corporate but will also provide support to Hitachi Japan and is linked to other programmes running concurrently as required, a flexible approach is essential. A key element of the role will be to act as intermediary between Corporate (in particular, the PMO and Global Working Groups) and Business Units in Hitachi Europe.
Provide Project Management support to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) Task Force including PMO* and Hitachi Global Working Groups, who are tasked with overseeing the development and delivery of the CSRD work in partnership with consulting firm PwC.
What you’ll be doing

Responsible for providing Project Support to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) Task Force including Project Management Organisation (PMO)* who are tasked with overseeing the development and delivery of the CSRD work in partnership with consulting firm PwC.
[*A Japanese/English bilingual PMO based in Japan, who will support the Hitachi Project team in driving the CSRD implementation.]
This role sits in Hitachi Europe/Corporate but will also provide support to Hitachi Japan and is linked to other programmes running concurrently as required, a flexible approach is essential.
Provide project support to the CSRD Project Management Organisation (PMO) Japan and UK [who are answerable to the Executive Committee and Advisory Board] including:
PMO Operational Activities – organizing meetings, follow up emails, operational tasks.
Staying connected with the Hitachi Europe Business Units (in scope of CSRD) regarding progress with timeline/action plans, documents etc.
Organise meetings, prepare material for PMO meetings
Manage correspondence.
Manage mailouts.
Support Hitachi PMO in developing and updating project progress management documents to visualize and keep track of the project status, issues, and actions.
Monitor/maintain action plan/progress tracker – to provide the PMO/Advisory Board with project progress, updates, issues, and risk management.
Support Hitachi PMO in preparing drafts of monthly/weekly management reports.
Liaise with Business Units included in CSRD project.
Monitor/maintain action plan/progress tracker.
Support in coordinating the various workstreams [Taxonomy, Environment, Human Capital, Social & Governance, Disclosure Platform].
Monitor Technical Advisor Role (PwC) technical sessions.
Liaise with Advisory Board/Executive Committee as necessary via the Secretariat/PMO.
Manage and follow up actions as needed.
Liaise with Consulting Firm (PwC) and other stakeholders, as necessary.
Liaise with other programmes running concurrently/linked to CSRD e.g., reporting tool/template
Update the CSRD SharePoint.
Change control – ensure effective change control processes are in place.
Project execution and control
Supports SuSD EU, by ensuring that the project follows execution best practices and company policies.
Effectively monitors and controls project progress and efficient resource utilization & highlights any issues/challenges/conflicts, as necessary.
Monitors and controls project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses, and cash flow.
Identifies, qualifies, quantifies, and manages project risks, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued.
Captures, analyzes, and shares lessons learned throughout the project. Ensures that the project successfully reaches conclusion.
Stakeholder Relationships
Supports PMO UK as the key contact for the various stakeholders and an escalation point for project issues.
Supports PMO Japan and UK as key contact for all communications relating to CSRD in Europe.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.

Identifies own training needs, undertakes self-directed and formal training programs as directed by Management.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Project Management Support
Experience/knowledge of Sustainability
Desirable – knowledge of CSRD
Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable equivalent qualification and/or experience in lieu.
Can demonstrate accountability for budget and planning.
Can demonstrate a well-developed competence in leadership roles relevant to all sizes of implementation projects.
Is fluent in spoken and written English and able to communicate in a way appropriate to the audience.
Skills
Good organizational skills - Information management – be the custodian of all master copies of project information;
Strong verbal and written communication skills, and stakeholder engagement – to ensure effective management of stakeholders;
Flexible to work across different time zones
Has strong analysis and critical thinking skills to quickly analyses complex situations.
Proven ability to effectively structure work to handle multiple demands and competing activities; to take control of issues and manage them through resolution.
Can demonstrate the capability of being a dependable, accountable initiative-taker that seeks guidance and feedback, when necessary, but is willing to take the lead with little guidance.
Has a passion for customer satisfaction, problem solving and teamwork.
Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience in Project Management support.
