Position: Cylinder Control Manager
Location: Long Beach
Target Base Salary Range: $80k - $90k (DOE)

The position will play a key function in the resolution & prevention of billing discrepancies between the company and the customer for the West Region (Southern CA and NV, AZ, HI). The role will also lead initiatives to ensure the customer cylinder population has sufficient turnover.

Responsible for leading the cylinder control team which includes analyzing and resolving cylinder discrepancies between customer records and our billings in a timely manner to ensure quality customer service, accurate records, and ensure payment from customers due to billing accurately. Key job functions include providing leadership of the department and allocation of team resources.
  • Train and lead team members in support of the performance of their key accountabilities to drive success in daily activities as well as projects as assigned.
  • Leads a safety-first culture among the team & participates in safety initiatives when engaging with associates & customers.  
  • Daily maintenance of the cylinder discrepancy dispute, cylinder adjustment and cylinder audit worklists.
  • Review and adjust cylinder transaction records in SAP, as well as copies of shipping documents that support those transactions, to identify any errors related to the cylinder transactions.
  • Perform physical cylinder inventories at customer sites & Airgas fill plants / branches when needed.
  • Daily review of negative cylinder balances generated through order entry.
  • Review and correction of customer owned positive cylinder balances.
  • Work with outside salespeople to assist them in explaining the audit findings to customers and support their loss of use negotiations.
  • Issuing cylinder rental credits where applicable.
  • Work with Collections department in identifying those accounts which may have cylinder balance discrepancies by reviewing rental invoice aging.
  • Works with branches, plants, drivers & other staff to drive best practices to minimize billing errors & analyzes EZTRAC balancing success to maximize delivery transaction integrity.
  • Partners with sales teams to collect idle assets or ensure asset rental is collecting expected returns in line with company standards
  • Perform cylinder lease maintenance including changing lease material numbers, deleting leases from master file when tanks are returned, and transferring leases.
  • Deploying and maintaining the EZTRAC (Airgas Cylinder Tracking) bar coding system at customer locations, as well as training Airgas operations personnel on usage of the system. This also includes daily bar code serial number maintenance.
  • Research and submit corrections to customer accounts that come about from reviewing the customer cylinder transactions, such as partnerships, addresses, and sales office assignments.

Are you a MATCH?

  • High School Diploma or GED or Bachelor’s degree in business administration and or similar work experience.
  • 1-2 years current experience with SAP desired.
  • 3-5 year’s experience in cylinder control is preferred.
  • Training, and the leading of team members in support of meeting departmental goals and objectives.
  • Assess individual team member performance on an on-going basis, in addition to the annual performance appraisal process.
  • 1-2 years training & leading team members in support of meeting departmental goals and objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of computer/data entry, especially GSuite, SAP & Microsoft Excel.
  • Must possess superior data mining and analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of industrial gases a plus.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Must have excellent math skills.
  • Able to interact and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with customers and co-workers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be detailed oriented.
  • Possess good organizational skills.
  • Team player who is able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
