Job Summary

This position is critical to achieving our vision of providing healthcare that is simple, affordable, equitable, and exceptional.

Responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of clinical standards and processes across provider practice and multidisciplinary domains. Primarily responsible for clinical standardization practices in the Corewell Health region or practice area assigned by the program medical director, but will also contribute to the Clinical Standardization team system strategy and internal processes that affect all regions of the enterprise. Expected to utilize a strong knowledge base in quality strategy and high value care practices to evaluate regional opportunities for provider practice and multidisciplinary standardization. Will leverage understanding of EPIC systems, clinical decision support, policies, internal operational practices, and clinical structures to evaluate, propose, and execute change ideas that drive improvement in patient outcomes and improve the value of care provided. Will execute creation and implementation of clinical pathways and additional standardization initiatives with clear outcomes for quality, safety, and/or cost savings. Collaborates closely with Q/S/E enterprise and regional leadership, core clinical teams, clinical and operational leaders, value analysis, population health, informatics, and digital services. Serves as a core member of the clinical standardization team and is expected to contribute to programmatic strategy, outcomes, and development.

Essential Functions
  • Understand Corewell Health’s mission, strategic goals, and value proposition for our communities and the people we serve. Actively participate in support of medical management.
  • Maintain a high level of education, knowledge, and trends of high value care initiatives, multi-specialty clinical best practices, improvement methodologies, tools, and theories.
  • Develops partnerships and support for QSE and Clinical Standardization throughout Corewell Health. This is done through influence and partnering with key regional stakeholders. Serves on key committees within the organization.
  • Builds and expands a personal and regional understanding of QSE initiatives, high value care priorities, clinical pathways, and clinical standardization team strategies and purpose.
  • Promote and advocate for patient-centered care, evidence-based medicine, and lower per-capita costs; participate in the development of clinical pathways and clinical standardization projects. Leverage knowledge of quality improvement processes and philosophies to support teams in implementing standardized practices.
  • Identify and propose regional and system wide opportunities for clinical standardization of provider and multidisciplinary clinical practice.
  • Actively participate in support of best practice and evidence based medical management within our multidisciplinary teams across all service lines. Identifies the need for a system or local clinical quality process, establishes and leads projects to ensure their regional adoption based on evidence-based practices identified in literature and by national organizations, with direction from the clinical standardization team.
  • Foster collaboration and communication among various clinical departments and stakeholders to promote sharing of best practices and consistent utilization.

  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
